Black Dress Baby Shower?

Is it inappropriate for me to wear a black dress to my baby shower? My friend that is throwing it was freaking out saying I shouldn't wear black and although I was planning to wear pink I can't find anything pink that looks good on me. And the colors are hot pink, black and white. I'm definitely not wearing white, lol. And I thought it would be nice to wear one of the themed colors. What do you ladies think? Honest opinions please

I wore black and white. I've never heard of any superstition or religious culture restricting the color black. Personally I don't see anything wrong with it.

Girl wear your black. There's NOTHING wrong with that. Be comfortable and confident in whatever you wear! I'll probably be wearing black & white to mine this weekend. My colors are also black white & pink.

Wear what you are comfortable in and feel good in. If it's a black dress, I think it's fine. You could add some pink and/or white accessories.

I wore black to my shower. Almost all of my clothes are black whether their maternity clothes or not and I see no reason to change that. You're pregnant and uncomfortable enough without trying to find some dress or outfit in a color just to please someone else. If you have a black dress that makes you feel good about yourself, wear it.

Black is very stark, maybe you could soften it with a scarf?
But these days there is much less of a tradition or norm so I don't see a problem :)
