Breast feeding while pierced

hey ladies,
I was just curious if other women on here have successful breastfed a child for 6+ months without losing I piercing? I've had my girls pierced for a little more than a year now and I'll be having our fourth baby on Dec 28th and I was hoping to be able to keep my piercings. I know I have to remove them for each feeding but I wanted to know about sensitivity and irritation from breastfeeding, is it going to be possible to successfully remove and replace the piercings every 3 hours without the irritation becoming excruciating? I've successful breastfed 2 of my 3 kids but I didn't have any piercings at the time and I do remember being really sore for the first week or so.
Any input would be greatly appreciated

But before giving up or making a decision, consult in a board certified lactation specialist. They certified in these such things, not just common breastfeeding experiences. I am sure you could possibly find a specialist who can better direct you in breastfeeding while having a piercing.

I definitely have to agree with **Rosealie23, newborn breastfed babies do not have schedules! You most certainly wouldn't want to wait 3 hours to breastfeed, it just unfortunately doesn't work like that. Exclusively breastfed babies need to eat more often, some what  around every 1/2 hours. You feed on demand, listen to your baby not a clock!! I doubt myself as well that you would want to remove and replace a nipple ring every hour or so. Your nipples will more and likely be prone to more soreness if you choose to remove and replace the nipple ring every so often. But if your determined to keep your nipple ring, remove and replace it then hey, more power to you mama!! I couldn't imagine how stressful it may be!! I have piercings, my eye brow, tongue and my lower chin under my lip. I like piercings but as a 27 year old mother of 6 births (5 living at home) and expecting our 7th, I choose to stay away from piercings that may cause complications with my beliefs, such as breastfeeding etc. I breastfed all 6 of my children 6+ months and the last two until they were toddlers. I am definitely breastfeeding this baby!! I am hoping you find a way to balance your piercings situation and breastfeeding at the same time!! Best of wishes!! :)

When I found out I was pregnant I took mine out. My nipples were extremely sore. But I've had mine since I was 18 and I'm now 29 lol. I'm 32 weeks and they are still not closed. I would suggest to be careful and look for signs of infection when you are changing your jewelry. I heard ducts can get clogged and it's painful and such.

I doubt you will want to remove them and replace them. And in what world did your breastfed baby eat on a schedule. I breastfed four of five and they stayed attached to me all the time... lol..
