Caffine During Pregnancy....

No Bashing Please....

Ok this is my Third Child I am currently 28w5d and before pregnancy I would literally drink like 10 12oz cans of Mountain Dew during a 24hr period. I always cut back during pregnancy but I still Drink maybe 5-6 if not I get bad migraines which my doc said may be caffine withdrawls... I hear so many people say drinking caffine while pregnant is bad but it never had any effect on my other 2 kids.. And my doctor knows and has never said anything to me about it. Have any of you other ladies drank alot of caffine during pregnancy and didnt have any issues or if you did have issues would you ladies share with me. I'm kinda stuck in the middle about it. Also I HATE water lol but I have been drinking it in between each soda and always have during my pregnancies.

Pop actually doesn't have that much caffeine compared to coffee. Generally one 12 oz serving has around 35-40 mg of Caffeine sometimes less.  So if you're drinking 5 that's still at the 200mg limit.

Im an iced tea drinker.  But I put more water in my system than anything else I drink.   Then once and a while I need to have a diet coke.

I drink a can of dr pepper at least once a day.. maybe twice a day. I hate the taste of regular water too. And I have discovered that sparkling water is good in flavors and it gives that carbonated feeling even if it is filtered carbonation. Try drinking those.... and they are less than $1

You Should be worried about yourself too. That is way too much soda. Remember being a mom is a life long commitment.  It's gonna be sad when unhealthy choices come back on you later in life and your grandkids are watching grandma go to dialysis every other day bc her kidneys ate no good.  Take care off yourself and your baby mama.  Good luck.

I think the scariest part about caffeine and soda is that too much can damage your kidneys. My older sister had to quit mountain dew cold turkey because she was making her kidneys stop working. It's good that you've cut your intake and that you're alternating with water. My doctor recommended popsicles, Jello, koolaid ice cubes and stuff like that to help me get more water since lots of water makes me nauseous. Also juice is good but sugar is a concern there too.

Ur "allowed" 220-200 of caffeine a day during pregnancy I try to only drink 2 but sometimes 3 a day but that's only 108-162 of caffeine a day. So I don't worry about it and this is my 3rd also.

It's not only too much caffeine,  soda by itself is very unhealthy overall, it's packed with various chemicals, I'd reduce it much much more if i was you, ur body would get used to it...

I completely understand it is so hard I love frozen coffee so I have one every couple of weeks I used to drink one or two daily.  I cut back because it's my first and I'm not sure what to much caffeine will do.  If you have had two other babies and nothing happened it should be ok.  I think with adhd it runs in the family and coffee can possibly bring that out.  I have it and it runs in my family but I have two friends that it does not run in their family and drank lots of caffeine and their kids are fine I know a few others that it runs in the family and they drank caffeine and their kids have it.  I could be so wrong but I know how hard it is to quit I am so tired all the time

You are definitely getting headaches due to caffeine withdrawals.  I'd also be concerned about the sugar content. Mountain Dew is loaded with both! It can have adverse reactions if you have a continous amount of caffeine.  But I hear you, I like it too. Just keep cutting back.  Every few days cut back by one until you're at only a few a day.  I try to limit to one coffee and one or two sodas daily. Always try to increase water intake and milk too. Good luck mama:)
