Castor Oil... help!!

I know they're tons of these posts but couldn't find one.  I am 39 weeks and have been 3 cm for a week and completely miserable.  I bought a bottle of castor oil and orange juice and am ready for it. I just wanted to see if any ladies has had any experience with this method and their outcomes before I tried it. Thanks mommies!!! Your input is appreciated :-)

I had a great experience with castor oil with my first baby back in Feb 2011. My son was due on Feb. 11th and in Feb. 6th around 11pm I drank 2 table spoons of castor oil and went to bed. During the night I started having cramps and around 6am I started timing my contractions. Called my doc., went to the hospital, doc checked me and I was 3cm dilated. Doc broke my water had ny son that evening at 7:59pm. Planning to do the same with this pregnancy. Im due Dec. 11th will take my castor oil on the 6th again. Good Luck

Do not use the oil can cause baby to have bowel movement inside of you which can lead to very serious problems for u and baby.  try this instead go buy a fresh pineapple eat it then take a warm shower have hubby get in with you and give you a lower back massage there are pressure points there that will throw u into labor then when your nice and relaxed have doggy style sex has worked for me with 3 out of 5 kids

Try nipple stimulation, pineapple, bouncing on a yoga ball, walking, primrose oil (orally and vaginally, it may help ripen the cervix and prevent tearing), sex (orgasm can stimulate contractions and semen can help ripen the cervix), hmmm I think there are more but I may be forgetting. I'm due today and have been 3cm and partially effaced for 2 weeks with baby now at +2 station...only thing holding me back so far is that my cervix has been posterior. Finally its starting to move forward and my midwife was able to do a partial membrane sweep (yowch!!). Really hoping baby will make its appearance soon!!! Good luck to you too!!!

Seriously this is baby #3 and when it comes to that time.... the waiting game. Thats exactly what Im gonna do,wait. If baby doesn't wanna come, nothing will change it. Learned that the hard way!

Not worth the hassle! Seriously I tried it out of desperation. O....m....g....
Just horrible, aawful diarrhea. The kind with those cramps that double you over. I suffered through it for hours and had no baby even for all of effort.
I have never known anyone its worked for!

I had my membranes stripped and that worked.

My sister & friend did everything in books, internet and word of mouth to induce their selves .... nothing worked .... the castor oil was just leaking out uncontrollably from their butts....lol if you do it pad up to the butt but baby will come when ready.

I wouldnt recomend it at all. Try some spicy foods long walks and some bumpy car rides and u might just wanna wait till baby is ready i know how uncomfertable it is that far along and sometimes u just gotta wait for baby or ask to be induced

The baby will come when its ready. I tried everything with my first and just ended up making myself miserable and I still didn't deliver until almost 2 weeks after my due date. Patience! I know it's hard. Best of luck!

It's really not suggested to do. It will give you horrible horrible cramping and terrible diarrhea. And may still not work. Why are you restoring to that if I can ask? I know it's not fun to be full term but baby will come when it's supposed to. I'm sure you are tired of hearing that but it's true. My little lady was 13 days late and she was born August 7. Also it can stress your baby causing it to have a bowl movement and then you are in a world of trouble.

I used it on my first and all it did was gave me diarrhea and made me feel gross.  If you aren't ready it wont do anything.
