Christmas gifts for my newborn...do I have to!?

I'm due this week and thinking about Christmas due to the stores ALREADY pushing Christmas decorations. I kind of think it would be silly to spend money on gifts for my almost 2 month old... Especially when I know family will be buying her little odds and ends. Is that making me a bad mamma?
I didn't know if anyone else had thought about this too.

I'm due in 3weeks and we are just giving our baby girl a symbolic gift..
We got her the picture book called: "Darth Vader and his princess daughter"
or whatever it is called..

Your baby won't rember the first xmas, or second..
so no need to go big :)

With my first she was only three months old so I wrapped a box of diapers and a box of wipes lol. So we had big boxes for pictures and then I bought some rattles and pacifiers that she needed anyway :) its more about the pictures.

I say let everyone else buy the gifts. You gave her life, so enjoying each other and bonding is all she really needs from you right now. And like they said, she won't remember what you got her. Don't feel bad, she loves you anyways! But if you do feel bad closer to Xmas, just get something you know would last as she grows, something symbolic or meaningful, you know "From Mom, with love"...

Thank you for this post!! I'm due on Friday and I've been thinking the same thing. He has everything he needs, and then some, so I feel like it's a little silly to buy presents for him when he won't even be 2 months old...but then I think ...is that me being selfish  or a bad momma? I love him dearly but I don't see the need for presents at this point lol :/

I tell you they won't care or remember till their 3rd! My son just turned 3 and it was the best bday party ever because he was interested and involved!  I know Christmas is going to be fun!

We wrap diapers and wipes. Also we buy our kids an ornament each year so the baby will get his first ornament.

We didn't buy our son anything. We never even bought him a present for his first birthday because we knew he was going to get so much. They will never remember or even know if you don't buy them a gift. Way to young to remember

Im due right before Christmas and hubby and i are not going all out on xmas since she will only be a a few days old. We plan to get her a newborn christmas dress and put maybe a small thing under the tree just so there is one for her as well. Dont worry if you dont do christmas for a 2 month old she wont remember it anyway :)

I like the idea of the ornament and diapers and wipes. Practical stuff :) I think that's what we'll do!

it would depend... is this your first?  then no but if it isn't then explaining why santa hasn't brought anything for the baby will get harder.  you don't have to do lots of gifts but a couple would be good.

Thanks! I think I'll stick with the ornament idea and maybe a special book or something.

My 4th will be about 2.5 months old. We didn't plan on getting him much other than maybe a toy or 2. If he's outgrown clothes, then those will go under the tree but only cause we have 3 other kids. He's too young to worry about it this year
