Did my waters just go?

I'm 40 weeks and 5 days. 3 hours away I went to midwife and had a attempted sweep done. Midwife couldn't do it and said my cervix was too far back as I hadn't started the labour process although I have lost my plug. Got home and 30 min ago I felt a sharp pin prick below and then a sudden gush of fluid enough to soak my knickers and go through my jeans but it just stopped again. Was it my waters or not...It felt like I wet myself. I wasn't expecting anything for a few days after what the midwife said now I'm confused. I haven't had any contractions or even bh. I called hospital who told me to monitor it over an hr to see if I get more but so far I haven't.  Advice needed please x

Just for the record, I wasn't being rude. I was simply correcting false information to put the poor lady's mind at ease-- BTW, skittles, your typo was forgiven. I don't point out every discrepancy that shows its ugly head, but I will correct information it it can cause potential harm. I don't call that being rude, I call it being imformative. There are enough rude people on here as is, and I try not to add to the drama.

I would never tell anyone anything like that not saying you said I would but I'm just speaking for my self.. due to the fact you don't know the degree or their illness note how long they was on those meds.  Only their doctor could give that type of information.. because they have the history or that patient... And also their is no cold turkey like they a crackhead or what ever lol even people that use needles or other harsh drugs must be weened off and put on a different drug.. I don't come here to advise people with any drugs even cold medications even with my history due to the fact of I don't know the person or the history plus everything changes when your pregnant..

Funny.. my phone does the same thing and I have to reread my post before I click done, figured it was a typo. No harm done the advice was the same she still needs to go to the hospital. People on here can be a little rude, I see people on here claiming to have medical degree and giving awful advise. I also have a degree for the medical field and seen people saying they do and advising people to just stop taking medications cold turkey with out speaking with there Dr first. The side effects included seizures... great advice.

First of all it was supposed to say infection due to the fact with my first child that was my issue but due to the fact I was typing fast and auto text and being at work which is working in a pharmacy with a pharmacy technician degree... Which is a medical degree it's not my fault their was a typo.. the point is thats not what I meant so before you call people names which is childish please fall back..

After water breaks you could start having contractions soon or it may take a while. Lay down and cough because sometimes baby's head will plug up the cervix so amniotic fluid will seemed to have stoped. The fluid should be clear or tinged a little pink and it maybe odorless or have a slightly sweet smell. It WILL NOT have a yellow look or smell like urine. If you can get it to come out again by coughing then wipe with some toilet paper and look at color and smell. If you think it Maybe your amniotic fluid go to where ever you are delivering at because labor can start at any time. The way you described it, it may deffently be your fluids. Good luck.

That also made me laugh babies suffocating bc of water breaking? Haha I wish people without medical degrees or common sense wouldn't scare people with no sense.

Well if id go.to.the hospital just to be sure they can do a test to tell if it was. If it was.your water they'll need.to speed up labor bc waiting longer then 24 he's can cause serious infection for the baby! Go get checked to be sure!!!!!

Ok, the baby is not going to suffocate because your water broke; he/ she will continue to receive oxogyn from the umbilical cord. However, it does make you more susceptible to infection-- it's unlikely, but possible. So call your midwife, and start heading back to the hospital-- it might not be a fun experience to make a roadside delivery. Good luck and congrats.
