Fetal Monitoring?

I'm currently 5 days overdue. At 40 wks my dr wrote me an order to go to the hospital and get fetal monitoring to check on baby and to make sure my fluid level is still good. However, when I called labor & delivery the woman who answered seemed confused about this. Now I'm wondering if it's actually necessary. Baby is moving just fine and I've had no abnormal pains, bleeding, or anything. Has anyone ever had to go in just to get fetal monitoring?

I had to do one at 38 weeks to see if the baby was OK. and I have to go for another one. I am 40 weeks now so Thursday I'll be 2 days over. mine is because they want to see if he is still OK and moving and if all is going good. as I have nearly all the preeclampsia symptoms

I am 2 days overdue and I go for my NST tomorrow... Is important to make sure baby is ok... They do it on any pregnancy that goes beyond the due date...

It's called a non stress test or NST and the person should not have been confused. If a dr office doesn't offer NSTs then labor and delivery does. It is necessary. (I'm a L&D nurse)

Yea i had to go in the other day for that im 34 weeks it only took about an hour

This is to check if baby is distressed, if fluids are good and will be used in the decision to induce or c section.
