I have issues with my fasting numbers too...everything else is fine. Snacks I eat are veggies with humus or peanut butter. The veggies have low carbs and the humus and peanut butter are good to fill you up for a longer period of time because of their proteins and fiber! I also eat cheese and crackers for the same reasons...drink lots of cold water because that boost metabolism due to your body having to warm up the fluid! Sometimes it helps when I wait until I have been awake for 20/30 minutes in the morning...I don't know if I should do that but it at least makes me feel like I am getting blood that has been well pumped around my body rather than sleepy blood...possibly a crazy belief lol! My numbers are also better if I eat my carbs last...so if I have chicken, broccoli, and mash I would eat it in that order so I get protein, veggie and some carbs but if I am full I stop eating the carbs not the other stuff...something I heard to do was also put a little bit on your plate because your mind tells you that you are full when the plate is empty, therefore you won't over eat...

Hello, I am 16 weeks. Do you mind giving meal suggestions, including bed time snacks? My blood sugars have been fine for weeks and recently too high starting with fasting. I walk after each meal. I was told by my nutritionist to incorporate more carbs. Just want to control this without meds.

I got diagnosed with GD at 30 weeks and I'm now 35 weeks and 3 days. I failed both the one hour and the 4 hour test. I would have passed had I known to stay away from carbs and even sugars from fruits can spike it up. I was terrified about having GD and it's been a huge adjustment but a good one in the long run.
I've seen a nutritionist and I've been eating so much better. I plan to continue watching my glucose levels after pregnancy and even if I go back to being normal I will continue to eat well. The biggest hing is that I feel better now. Not to mention diabetes runs in my family so now I know how to take care of myself so it doesn't get worse. So far I've been able to control it with a change of diet. I didn't have to take any medications or insulin which is great.
I have to get my diabetes test early I will be 13 weeks at time of test because luckily there is no time which she said to not eat. We are just going to do jelly beans instead of the nasty drink.
I was told to not eat anything after 8pm the night before I had my gestational diabetes blood work. Prior to that I ate my regular meals plus a slice of cake during the day and a snow cone thar afternoon before. I failed my gestational diabetes test and had to go back and do the 4 hour testing. I was advised by a friend not to eat any sweets 2 days prior to test because apparently sugar stays longer and slower in your body while pregnant. So for 2 days I ate very healthy and only drank water. ...I passed the 4 hour testing.
As long as you don't eat either with sugar the night before or the morning of the test, you will be fine.
