Gestational diabetes controversy...

Last pregnancy I had geatational diabetes controlled by diet.  This pregnancy, I dont think I have it. I havent had any prenatal care until yesterday at 30 weeks.  My doc wanted to do the glucose test and I said no for financial reasons.  I told her I was checking my blood sugar randomly and am keeping an eye on it, since I had the testing aupplies from last pregnancy.  Mind you, I am a big woman and look like a "fat slob", but also am very active and have lots of muscle.  So my doc assumes I have it again.  I tested my blood sugar this morning after I ate two bagels with cream cheese and a glass of orange juice.  Mostly all carbs right? My sugar was 109 2 hours later.  What would you think if you were in my situation?  Does it sound like I have diabetes or am I just stubborn?

Its all about the money for me.  Doctors love to do unnecessary tests so they can bill insurance.  But my insurance doesnt cover anything. Mostly just frustrated.

Isnt hypoglycemia when your sugars ar below like 70?  That rarely happens for me and it usually after I do some major exercise like hiking in the woods when I go deer hunting.  Since I have been pregnant during hunting season for the last two years, I always take food and water with me if I start to feel ill.  I dont take any meds for GD.

Sounds like hypoglycemia, I didn't take the test but noted my sugars on my own like you are. However mine were really high at first and then really low so it was suggested I did have it and I skipped the test. Now I am learning to manage my diabetes with insulin and feel like I am doing a lot better

You don't have to tell me what I didn't read. Its between u and ur baby and I'm not here to tell u what u should or shouldn't do. Its ur choice. If u don't think u have it than don't take it simple.

I have only gained 6 lbs so far.  So I know I am doing good at 30 weeks.  I usually dont pig out unless I crave that need.  I just when I am hungry and eat sensibly.

I feel ya!
With my 2nd baby I failed my glucose test by .5 so then had to control it by diet and test blood sooo annoying baby was 8.2 and a week and a half early..anyways I was frustrated this time around because my dr didn't even send me for the test because she said since u had it last time u are considered gestational again which p*ssed me off because every pregnancy is different..I don't think I have it..I entertained them and did the nutritional class but after that I have done nothing..I have tested my blood a couple of times (now 37.5 weeks) and all has been fine..I live in Canada so I don't have to worry about paying anything out of my pocket for me its the fact she didn't even test me to diagnose me and I am a fit person have only gained 22 lbs...also just as long as ur pairing ur sugars with a protein and like u said just keeping an eye on ur sugar levels here and there then I think it's fine..we know our bodies..

I was the same way, I had it done with my boys but my girls I said no and now this pregnancy..unless things are different I will say no again. Dr. Are just doing what their bosses & big pharma says. You know your blood sugar and what to do.

Obviously you didnt read where I test my blood sugar.  It is normal.  My baby is just fine.  The test wont tell anyone a  thing because its an unheathly amount of sugar any normal human being. I have the money, I just prefer to spend it for more practical things.
