Getting Epidural

I am 25 weeks pregnant, and I am seriously considering getting the epidural. This is my first baby and alot of people have said the epidural slowed down their labor, did the epidural slow down anyones labor? And did you feel the pushing process? Share your story im nervous!

I agree with all the above statements but one of the things that is great also about having an epidural is that it allows you to get some sleep & rest before you have to start pushing. I had been up for over 24 hrs & was exhausted & couldn't imagine having to push but they gave me that epidural & I relaxed & was asleep before I knew it.

They had to put mine in early bc my platlates were low. I was dilated at 3 then I thought the catheter was bothering me again when she checked me I was dilated 8 in leas than 30 mins lol the dr barely got there in time..it happened really fast for me.

I jus had my baby the 11th. ..I couldn't have done it natural. There were complications so they used a vacuum and he came out fast...I tore really bad.I didn't feel it till epidural wore off then they gave me pain med. My labor went fast I was induced it took a few hours to dilate contractions hit fasr and hard then I pushed less than an hour. I could feel pressure but no pain. I wouldn't do it without an epideral so kudos to women who do! Lol. It wasnt bad tho..I was terrified. like I said I tore so im hurting now but my baby is safe goodluck and don't be scared.

I got an epidural with my first 2 and will with this one. For me, it was the best thing ever because I was able to actually enjoy the birth of my baby instead of being in so much pain and just wishing it was over. It can slow down the process if you get it too early. I waited til I was between 6 and 7 cm before getting it so by then I was so far along it wouldn't slow anything down. Then I was able to just relax and rest until it was time to push. I didn't have any complications during or afterwards.  I would say whatever you choose just keep an open mind and don't be dead set on either because you never know what can happen during labor and you don't want to be disappointed if it doesn't work out like you want.
