Glucose test came back :(

Hi girls,
I had my 3h sugar test last week and got back my blood test result today...
and appearntly my body is struggeling to break down the sugar and they think I could now be diabetic??

I didn't have this issue prior of pregnancy and I consider myself fit and healthy.
I don't eat a whole lot of sweets (I dislike most sweets actually) etc etc..
I've always been small sized, used to run before I got pregnant - not regulary but still..
I'm so confused, I'm eating salads and healthy stuff all the time.. how could this happen??

After some googeling I still find myself confused, is my baby growing too big?
My midwife said I might be unable to birth my baby girl vaginally.. and I have to have cesearian!! (It could even be 2-3weeks before my due date!)

I'm just 27w +2 right now and I'm so disappointed. I really WANTED to birth my girl vaginally, I've read books about it and become really excited to do it...

I think they want to monitor me more closely now and put me on a diet... :(
I'm so bummed,
Anyone else going through this?

To top it off, my lovely husband is on a business trip half this week and cannot be with me to calm me down.. :(

Please cheer me up..
xx

Thank you for your kind words and support,
I think I can do this!!!

I am looking up recepies and felt a bit shot down when there are very specific ingredients that I have no clue where to find..
but I will figure this out.

My husband is so supportive and has offered to match my diet so I don't feel like I am the only one eating these things.
He is also coming home in a few hours from his business trip, so I feel more at ease knowing that.

My little girl has given me a few encouraging kicks today and I made sure to have a healthy 30min walk today as well.

I think we (me + my baby girl) are doing a bit better as I now know a bit more -and that is thanks to you guys and google! So thank you all so much girls!! :) <3

I have worried a great deal, but I've more and more come to terms with this..
I still believe my baby girl is healthy.. but I very much look forward to my next ultrasound..

So next week I got Nutriest appointment on Tuesday and on Wednesday I will see my OB.
I'm hoping one of them checks my baby's size on ultrasound...

Again, thank you all for your kind support & love!
it really made a huge difference <3

Dandi, I completely understand how you feel! I didn't meet with my nutritionist for a week after finding out and felt incompetent because I didn't know what I was doing! The Dr had me checking my sugar an hour after eating 3 or 4 times a day and keeping a log. Have they mentioned that to you? It was a pain in the butt but gave me a peace of mind that I was watching my carbs. That's all you have to do is make sure you don't eat a lot of starchy stuff in one sitting. A good way to tell is if you get really sleepy immediately after eating or kind of light headed (in my experience). Like don't eat a plate full of pasta for lunch, eat a salad first and then portion your pasta. Be sure to eat protein, that will give you energy. I can assure you, you will know by your body signals if something isn't right. And honestly, as long as you don't go buck wild with carbs/sugar in the next week before meeting with your nutritionist, you and your little one will be fine. Please quit stressing. That's probably why the baby isnt moving. Because you're tense and stressed and he/she is picking up on the emotions. I was soooo scared too so I know that's easier said then done for you. There is a chance that you could have a large baby BUT that is if you totally disregard your nutritionist and don't control your sugar. I am not a health nut. I have too many cokes and not enough water and ate out more than cooking before being diagnosed. And I was able to do this. I hope this has given you a little peace of mind. :)

Your baby could be born hypoglycemic but they can get that under control in no time. Usually g.d. doesn't increase the risk of the baby developing diabetes.

Is there a risk my baby will have diabetes?

I have gd again with my second. My mw says "at least you know that the placenta is working well". It's the hormones that interfere with insulin. Nothing to do with diet and lifestyle.  I'm also quite small and eat well as a rule.
If gd is controlled well through diet and or meds, your baby and you will be just fine. But yes, the risk of a large baby is there.

Please don't worry unnecessarily.  I was told that my son was going to be large but he ended up coming early and weighed 3075g :)

All the best!

Thank you!
Yes actually often is quite thirsty during a meal.

I'm just worried, I don't have my appointment with my dietrician expert until Tuesday next week.. and I worry for the safety of my unborn child.
I'm trying to eat healthier, which is hard, I thought I was eating pretty dárn healthy already?

She is kicking alittle now..but been inactive a lot today. Things like that makes me SO WORRIED.

I really hope they find a way to make us both stay healthy.

Should I take my maternity leave earlier because of this?

While you're eating, are you REALLY thirsty? That's how I knew I had it with my first. Everybody is different so while we are all sharing our stories, know that they WILL be different from yours. The good thing about it is with technology these days and competent doctors, you and your baby will be perfectly healthy and fine! Don't stress! It might be a pain to monitor your sugar 3x's a day but its worth it! Cheer up momma! :)

Not any signs I took note of.. or that my OB or midwife expressed concerned of..
my 3h test is standard and I think they were surpriced with my results as well.

I have, however, had a poor immune system..like a lot of colds and such..
and I have been incredibly tired.
But I thought this was because of the pregnancy...
well it turns out it is, but I thought it was the regular hard wirk of making a child..

I am not a breakfast person. I usually have just a toast and a cup of tea.
and I don't think I drink enough water.

What do you think?
Is that the signs?

With GD do you experience any signs of letting you know something is not right?

Hi there, your hubby will be home soon. Get on Skype, i find when my hubby is away that seeing him and talking always helps. Try and stay positive.  Gestational diabetes can be quite common.  Avoid excess sugar and carbohydrates. Lots of water.  Try not to eat processed foods they usually have hidden sugars.  Take care

I had gd with my 1st and I had her vaginally!  All 9.6lbs of her! She was born with some problems and had to be in the nicu for 11 days but u have plenty of time for all the ultrasounds and test they will run ....thankfully I don't have it this time my doc said everyone and every pregnancy is different!  I had to switch from my midwife to my ob I have now because gd makes u high risk and most midwifes don't deal with that! But I love him so much he was there for me and made my hard delivery as nice as he could and that's why I've chose to keep him as my forever gyno and ob! Good luck and just continue to make healthy choices and exercise!  That's all we can really do our bodies will do what they want anyway! Sorry mamma ur feeling bad about this and ur hubby isn't there! I hope all turns out ok for u and ur Lil family!

Heyy I failed my 3hr test as well at 32wks and I was very devastated as well and my boyfriend was always for work as well and I cried and I didn't understand and I eat pretty healthy as well. But it's actually not that bad I am a ftm too and I am 35 wks now going on 36 soon and basically what there going to do is monitor to you closely there gonna give you a few things of what to eat and what not to eat and there going to tell you to stop looking at the labels of things and don't eat anything over 6-7 grams of sugar for examples instead of whole milk they want you to drink 2% milk and instead of whole bread eat whole wheat and my sugars weren't that high it was over by a couple points but a couples points is a lot to a baby but I do have to preck my finger 4 times a day to check my sugars this is when I first wake up , 2hrs after breakfast , 2hrs after lunch, 2hrs after dinner to re a sure you that your body is not going over what it's suppose to but of course they want you to eat atleast 5 to 6 times a day and in small portions I was very hard at first I had to literally go to publix and buy a whole bunch new foods bc everything had to much sugars especially juice ... All I've been drinking is water and if I want to taste something kinda sweet I'll get the fruit punch Crystal Light I love it . But what scared me was when the lady said that if you don't do what your suppose to the baby can have a lot of problems or even die :( she's seen a lady not follow her diet and her baby diet at 38wks and that was a lot to scare the crap outta me but you'll be fine ! Calm down just think of it as that you have to do what best for your bundle of joy and that's what's important proper dieting and portioning and the reason for why they want to see you weekly is to just monitor the baby's heart and weight ! They did move my due date a week ahead tho which is ok ill delivery at 39 wks instead of 40 so I have to get induced. But you'll be ok positive thoughts positive results mama!! Don't stress it bc the baby feels all of that

I'm sorry you have to go through this alone right now. From other comments I've read on here gd is scary but manageable most of the Time it goes away after birth of your child.  Just remember it is manageable you and your Lil one will be OK

I had GD with my first child and have the 1hr test on Thursday with my second but an early test at 16wks was negative. Its not what you are or are not doing. I learned that with my first. Its how your body is breaking everything down with the baby. So you could be on a strictly water diet with all healthy foods and STILL have GD. The special diet is just to ensure you regulate your carbs. Also, about how big your baby is growing...girl, drs told me up until the day I had my daughter she was going to be 10lbs. Yep, came out a whopping 7lbs4oz. I had to have a c-section because 27hrs after being induced, I was only a 2 but having contractions and my daughter was going in my ribs rather than down. Turns out her cord was wrapped around her neck 3 times. So sometimes those things happen for the best! :) Don't let them scare you! Just monitor your sugar levels and you'll be fine with a perfectly healthy baby!

I am so sorry this is happening to you. It sounds like you were really taking good care of yourself. Makes me question my eating habits. I want to say dont worry and dont stress. But I would be a mess to. Just try to stay positive, follow dr. orders to a T. Most important thing is your baby and your health, you want best outcome and that might be a c section. I am sorry your hubby is not there. Stay positive!!! Blessing on the rest of your pregnacy. Take good care of yourself dont work yourself up too much.
