They gave me meds when sewing me up that made me soooo out of it. I barely remember that first day after the hour recovery. (Except that I was absolutely starving all day, couldn't get out of bed because I had these inflating bag things on my legs, and I was catheterized until the next day!!!) I didn't know anything about birth plans or that I could have possibly had a say in anything, so definitely talk to your doctor about anything you wish to happen. I couldn't hold my daughter until about 45min after she was born once they wheeled me into recovery where I was able to start breastfeeding her. I barely remember breastfeeding her throughout the rest of the day though. I had a bad experience, so I hope all goes well for you!

Yeah its about an hr till you get to hold her. And it will take another few hrs before you can take care of her independently because of not being able to use your legs. Thank goodness my fiance was there to help big time with our daughter having my last one in december which will be a c section too

Hey!  I've had 2 sections and will have a 3rd in March! When my daughter's were born they brought them around for me to see, but I wasn't aloud to hold them until I was wheeled into recovery. You are still frozen from the waist down for a little while so sitting up is impossible.   Once the numbing wore off they raised my bed and I could hold them.  After my section they told me not to carrie or lift anything heavier then my baby.  So, yes you can lift and dress your baby.  It is somewhat painful at first as every surgery is, but it gets better quickly!

Yes you can do it all it is a little painful to put your pants on bc your stomach musculs are cut so lifting an pushing with your legs is a little rough but I healed well and it was simple
