Heavy bleeding but did not miscarry

Has anyone done this? I was 9 weeks preg on saturday, and I have felt fine. Anyways I was over at my sisters house next door, just finished watching a movie, stood up to come home, and blood just gushed out of me. Just like I was on a normal perood. My sister and I were freaking out. But I walked home, took a bath to clean myself up and went to bed. I was literally afraid to move! I never passed a bloodclot that I'm aware of. I did see 2 very small clots after I wiped, but other than that, nothing. But the blood was bright red. Anyways, went to hospital the next day. Doctor did an internal exam, and said I had stopped bleeding...there was only old blood visible. Had blood work taken. Hcg levels were at 70,973. He said that was good but even if the baby had already died the levels still could be up like that. Went for an ultrasound today. I was expecting the worst. Thought the baby had died but that I just had not passed it yet. But to my surprise, he/she was still in there. Moving around with a strong heartbeat!! I couldnt believe it. I still have to go go back tomorrow for more bloodwork to be done. Wanna see if the Hcg levels have doubled. Does anyone know what could have happened??? My ovaries also looked fine. I do not not know what to think. Im so afraid Im going to miscarry. =(

That same thing happened to me.. I bled a lot the  ran to the er. Everything was great and baby was fine.. fast forward 2 months and baby is great.. sometimes there is a little blood pocket that pops. It does happen.  It's not harmful to the baby and doesn't come from the sack or the baby..

Yes.  I had this exact same experience.  Doctors still don't know what happened.  I woke up to fresh bright red blood all over the sheets.  Walked to the bathroom and I could feel it pouring out of me.  Thought the worst, so I woke up hubby answer said I'm losing the baby.  So we went to the ER.  Thank God they found a heartbeat. They called it a threatened miscarriage because they don't really know the cause. Worst night of my life.  Was on bed rest for a few weeks, but bled brown/old blood for weeks after that.  Now at 28 weeks everything is fine and haven't bled since.  I hope everything goes well for you :-)

I bled as if I got my period for three months in a row when I was pregnant with my last one. I don't remember what it was but there were no other complications and he is now happy and healthy and will be five in January. Hoping all goes well for you!

I had the same at 5 and 6 weeks and like you everything was fine. I had an ultrasound done at the time only due to my blood type and two weeks later heart beat and the clot underneath has gone. So scary though. I literally didn't know what to think and basically like you just rested.  Maybe it was a hc bleed that you had and have had resolve. :)

I am so confused right now about what is going on. I went in to the clinic and was told I was about 5 weeks pregnant tried to do a vaginal ultrasound but they couldnt see much and thought I might just be too early. I was rescheduled to come back on two weeks about 9 days later I started spotting which turned into full on bleeding. Unable to do the vaginal ultrasound due to clinics policy they did an abdominal one amd couldnt see anything nor find a heartbeat again. Because I was also cramping they seems fairly certain I as miscarrying. I was referred to see another doctor. Upon leaving I went straight to the er where they had a three step process. First they checked my cervix which is still closed so I miscarried yet. Secondly they ran blood tests to check my hcg levels which came back normal but I am still very early thirdly they did a vaginal ultrasound which confirmed the yolk had attached to the amniotic sack but they couldnt tell if the baby was growing. They were also unable to find a heartbeat. I was diagnosed with a threatened miscarriage and would have to wait another two weeks to know anything. They said its possible Im also not as far along as I was originally told but I feel like that;s not true I know exactly when o wouldve conceived. I bled for ten days now and on the tenth day my bleeding has ceased it; only light pink spotting and a lil brown old blood. I am so confused if I am miscarrying or not. I dont believe it was missed period because it wasn;t even close to my cycle date. My cramps have also stopped too. I have been mentally preparing myself for miscarriage for the last week and a half and now that Ive stopped bleeding i wonder if maybe Im not. My obgyn apt is on Monday that seems so far away. Has anyone experienced his much bleeding through pregnancy. I dont Even know how to feel anymore I have so many !iced emotions. This wasnt a planned pregnancy but I had decided to keep it. I was very sad when I was told I was going to miscarry but I had finally accepted it. Now idk what to think.

Do you mind me asking what happened? I'm in exactly the same position at the moment but at 6.5 weeks. I've already had 2 miscarriages previously and I'm desperate for a baby so holding onto even the slightest glimmer of hope. Can't get a scan for 2 days so just have to sit it out.

Hello,

I just read your story, though it's from 2 yrs ago. Did your pregnancy scale through?

I am currently 6 weeks 6 days pregnant and have had heavy bleeding and clotting for several days. The dr has ruled as a progressing miscarriage but i am also staying prayed up.

Blessings,
Tee

I am 6 weeks pregnant and have severe bleeding and clotting. My Hcg levels dropped to 2900. This is my second pregnancy and I'm devastated, I cannot stop crying. My breasts are no longer tender and the doctor's are saying that I might miscarry if I haven't done so yet. I just know in my heart that my baby is still there, the doctors are wrong. I'm hoping for a miracle, I'm staying prayed up. God Bless!

Oh boy does your story sound all too familiar...except my bleeding started at 16 weeks and bled until I had the baby at 22 weeks 4 days. I had a placental abruption and it too 4 ultrasounds from 4 different people to finally figure out what was wrong!  There was a huggeee blood clot at the edge of the placenta. The bleeding was off and on at first..it never completely stopped, but it definitely got better.  After a couple of weeks it started to get really bad.  At night I would soak through pads and my clothes.  It was just something I got used to because everytime we went to the dr, the baby looked great.  I would pass massiveee blood clots as well.  But again, I just got used to it.  I think when it first started, the perinatologist thought it would go away.  He started to finally get worried when it was even worse a month later.  I think most of the time this goes away, so hopefully that's the case for you!  I finally went to the hospital because I was having pretty bad contractions that weren't stopping. The bleeding causes your uterus to contract, and the contractions cause you to bleed more.  Anyway, they finally ended up having to take the baby at 22 weeks 4 days, after I had to get 4 units of blood(sounds scarier than it actually is!) because I just wouldn't stop bleeding.  When they took him, my dr said I was literally within hours of it detaching completely.  If that happened, she wouldn't have been able to guarantee mine or  my little boys survival.   Thank GOD me ANDD my little boy made it!  He ist now 5 months old and looks like a perfect little newborn.
I will pray nothing like this happens to you.  My dr said mine was the scariest abruption she or the perinatologist have ever seen.
However, I will give you some advice...get a dr you LOVE and completely trust if you don't have one already.  I had just switched drs a week before I had Brady and I was soo happy I did.  She saved my life and I trusted her w everything.  Don't do any heavy lifting.  I didn't know I wasn't supposed to be picking up my toddler until a week before I had my baby.  Find out whyyy you are bleeding?  Like I said..it took 4 different people, but we finally found out.  You could not be having an a abruption, and could have a muchhh better outcome. I hope that's the case!  Take care of yourself and your little one...I'd go on pelvic rest until the bleeding actually stops.   Good luck and keep us updated!!

I am 14w2d pregnant.  On Tuesday, when I was 13w5d, I woke up to go to work, as I stood up walking towards the bathroom..I felt a gush of fluid filling my underwear I thought I was peeing myself, I put my hands down there thinking I lost control of my bladder as I was turning on the bathroom light, I realized that it was blood...lots of blood.  It covered my hands, my legs, my feet and it completely covered my bathroom floor.  It was very heavy and kept pouring.  I made my way over to the toilet and I just kept screaming NO..NO...NO...this can not be happening, everything was fine at my ultra sound the day before on Monday.  The baby had a strong HB...157, and "she" was moving all over the place, I seen her fingers her toes her spine her ribs and even her bladder full of urine, she needed to pee, so I couldn't believe that the unthinkable was happening to me.  As I sat on the toilet sobbing and screaming the blood just continued to pour out and I also had passed a couple of clots one rather large...I didn't inspect it because I was so scared and didn't know what to do.  I called my mom who lives down the street from us, it was about 5:30 am, so she was still sleeeping and I was crying so hard she didn't even recognize my voice she actually said who is this...I stopped crying for a brief moment so I could get her to understand what was happening to me.  She immediately came down and she cleaned me up enough to head to the emergency room...she and I were both sobbing the whole way there, I just knew what had happened, I didn't understand why but I knew what was going on.  So i walk into the ER and they are trying to make me fill out paperwork as I'm standing in the ER blood gushing down my legs out the bottom of my pants and at this point covering their floor in blood , she finally realizes that I need immediate help.  So I see a triage nurse and my vitals aren't good, my heartrate went to 145 and I'm still pouring blood out.  The get me into an exam room and order and ultrasound and as the tech is scanning my tummy and i hear her hitting the button taking pictures, I'm trying to read her face and her expressions, she finally hits the button to listen to the heartbeat out loud and boom...there it is, my baby's heartbeat she's still alive!  I couldn't believe what i was hearing so i asked her, is the my baby's heartbeat and she said yes with a huge smile on her face.  I could do nothing but cry i asked if my mom could come in and she said yes, we were both sobbing at the sound of that precious baby's heartbeat and the sight of her moving all around and wiggling her little arms and legs like she had done the day before...well I'm still bleeding at this point and I don't understand how I could be bleeding this much and the baby still be alive, they ER docs and nurses are preparing me for a miscarriage.  They told me that more thank likely this would happend.  The doctor did a pelvic exam and determined my cervix was closed which was a blessing to me...they then sent me home and told me to prepare for a miscarriage and told me to take tylenol for the pain.  I went to my OB doc on wednesday and much to my surprise the heartbeat was nice and strong just like the days before, he was hopeful and reassuring that we might be ok.  He said since the bleeding and cramping had subsided and that the heartbeat was good, that these were all good signs.  Went back to the doc on Friday, still the baby has a great heartbeat...and the bleeding and cramping is still not severe...pretty mild actually.  The doctor said that we just had to wait it out.  It was 50/50 either way.  He didn't know how this would play out but he made me me all nervous again.  He said that it could take up to 4 weeks for us to know what is happening.  The waiting is getting the best of me...not knowing what is happening inside my body...I really want this baby and I can't stand the thought of loosing her.

I just finished reading your story & can relate somewhat. As of today according to my LMP I should be 9 wks today, but when I went to my appt. this past Wednesday for an U/S the Dr. said he could see a sac & fetal pole, but no heartbeat yet. He said we could have miscalculated & be less than that. I have irregular periods & usually range between 30-34 days. So reanalying things & dates, trying to remember when I conceived, I think it happened about 6 wks ago today, so I would have only been 5.4 weeks fetal age at the U/S & explains why no heatbeat was detected yet. I'm hoping that's what it is. I also have had some occassional, I wouldn't call it spotting, but somewhat of a very light pinkish discharge but not enough to reach my panty liner, just when I wipe. As of yesterday I started drinking a whole lot of vitaminC cranberry, orange & apple juice's. I was told by my aunt who is a nurse it may help with the pink discharge (if it's blood).I have noticed that there has been nothing at all today. Call it a coinsidence, but it seems to be helping, so I'm going to continue.
Also, I went for my 2nd round of hcG testing today & get results Monday. I hope everything is fine, and if so, I will go back for another ultrsound.I wish you all the best!!!

A little update. Had my other scan today and there it was, a tiny little baby with a healthy heartbeat. I am overjoyed, but still very nervous as it is still early on.However a weight has been lifted off my shoulders, as I really thought the little sac would be empty and it was a missed miscarriage. But so good so far. I'm keeping my fingers crossed I won't bleed again. Thanks to you all for helping me through the last couple of weeks. I'll still be popping in and out of this forum. XXX

My daughter is 20 months old now. When i was only 3 weeks preg i started bleeding alot that they told me that i was gonna lose her. So i told them i have no pain my hcg is going up i am not loseing her. It turned out that i had to stay on bed rest for 9 months but is was so worth it. i was bleeding so much that i could not take showers only every 3 days and not hot water cause if the water was hot or to warm i would bleed more.It was a very hard 9 months for me i cryed every day and i was so sad because they kept telling me that i was bleeding to much and i would lose her. Well to make a long story short i made it 9 months and our beautiful daughter ShyAnne was 6lbs 12oz. So there is hope. Allso i had high risk dr's. You should see if you could find Obgyn DR'S that deal with high risk. Now i am 6 weeks preg again and i was bleeding brown and my hcg is going up but my progesteron is going down so i am so worried that i can lose this baby because the baby needs the progesteron levels to go up because it is the placenta that gives the un born baby the food and h2o so the dr gave me progesteron bills so i hope every thing will be ok. And for u there is hope that ur baby will be ok.When i started to bleed with my 1st preg it was not brown it was real red blood so i know how scared you are. But as long as you have good Dr's and they keep an eye on everything hopefully things  will be ok.They told me 85% ShyAnne would make it with all my bleeding.

Your story has given me a little more hope, that everything will be ok. Cramping has settled a little and bleeding stopped again. I go for another scan tomorrow. I'll keep you all up to date. Fingers crossed. Thanks
