How do doctors & nurses determine whether to test babys first poop or not ?

So back in 2013 shortly after I had my son , I developed an addiction to opiates (prescribed) and that eventually led to me using heroine. I ended up finding a doctor who prescribed me suboxone, and I was with him for about a year ... he ended up deciding to leave his practice at the same time I was about 19 weeks pregnant. Anyone that knows anything about suboxone (subtext at this point because I got switched due to being pregnant) knows that the withdrawal is just as severe if not worse than heroin withdrawal. I did tell all of this to my obgyn and he began trying to help me find a new doctor to prescribe the medication , because he didn't have a license to. But in the mean time , I did end up relapsing for about two in a half weeks (I was around 23 weeks at this point) but thankfully I found a new doctor and immediately stopped using the heroin. I'm just worried now because of the fact that I did relapse , and I know if any doctor or hospital were to look up my history , they would see a history of drug abuse as well as me being on the subutex. I'm worried that they may test my baby's poop , and it will come out positive for the heroine.. but like I said , I did tell my ob and he's informed about everything (except for that I relapsed) I'm thinking of telling him that at my next appointment. I'm just also wondering if he could explain to them what my situation was at the time , and don't misunderstand I am disgusted with myself for using while my child was in my stomach , but even he (my on) was urgent on finding me a new doctor as soon as possible because he said that withdrawing would be harder on the baby more than anything else . I don't know I'm freaking out . I plan to even get off of the subs after the baby is born & I have no desire to ever use again , and I just don't want to loose my baby ...

I would say that they will definitely test the baby's poop because of your history.  As far as I know every baby is screened for drugs.  This is a touchy subject because childrens services or whatever it's called in your location can take your baby based on your history and the positive results.  I would contact someone who knows a bit more about what would happen after the baby is born.  I'm not an expert by any means and I hope that you can keep the child as long as you stay clean.  There is someone in social services who can give you answers.  I as well will have you in my prayers and I hope everything turns out ok.
