Is it necessary to receive prenatal care?

So I haven't received prenatal care yet and I am about to be at 9 weeks tomorrow. I saw a nurse at a free clinic at 6 weeks and she wasn't able to see the baby through an ultrasound and told me to watch out for signs of a miss-carriage. I was spotting, but that stopped. Due to my work and current location, I haven't had a chance to see a new Dr. yet. How long can I wait before I receive care? And should wait or try to see someone right away?

I will keep that mind, especially since not too long ago I have fibroids removed from my uterus.

Honestly I would go. They check to make sure that the sac and baby are growing like it should and make sure you are healthy. Remember pregnant woman can develop things that can you and your baby at harm, like high blood pressure,  diabetes, pre e, etc. Those are not as common early on, but if you have any prior medical issues or take any medications those could affect your baby

I'm lost are you talking about at all during pregancy??? Yes get prenatal care. Where I live if you don't they will call child protective services on you when you deliver. And drs don't have to deliver you if you don't have a dr. Bc thry don't want the liablitly if somethibg was wrong with your baby and you didn't know it... 12 to 18 weeks is a good time to go

Prenatal care is extremely important. You havent waited too long. If you are seen around 12 weeks they will be able to hear a heart beat and get blood tests. Studies have proven prenatal care decreases the incidence of infant and mother death.

I'm curious...you said the nurse couldn't see the baby on the ultrasound, did she a sac? There was no baby at 5 weeks but you're supposed to see the sac with the embryo...

Prenatal care is definitely important. Not so much for the baby at this point but for you. Tomake sure its a normal pregnancy, ect. A lot of us women don't go to the doctor until we get pregnant which in when we find out about other issues, cysts,STDs, etc. Go get your self checked in the next couple weeks :)

It would be wise to go get checked out. If you are having a miscarriage,  they can help prevent any infection.

Prenatal care is extremely important.    I have personally seen mothers and babies die due to none. ... severe pre eclampsia never treated which turned into eclampsia and killed both.  So, please don't suggest prenatal care is not important.   It saves lives.  Hopefully,  ur pregnancy will b totally normal, like most, and your prenatal care will be very easy.   You should be seen by about the the end of ur first trimester.  12/13 weeks.  Just take a prenatal vitamin until then and if u see them a bit late, it's probably fine, just get there when u can . And congrats!

I found out early on that I have hypothyroidism, which gets worse with pregnancy and can really harm the baby if not controlled with medication.  If you can't get an appointment it's one thing but just choosing not to go is not the best choice.

Prenatal is nice but really theirs nothing they can due but check you. Take your vitamins eat well and just use your best judgment. If a miscarage happens it doesn't make a difference if your seeing a Dr midwife or nobody you will probably know sooner but it doesn't change the fact that it's what your body decided to do. Best wishes

Pregnancy is not a disease. I didn't get in to see an OB until I was 18 weeks this time around due to issues with insurance.

Just take your prenatal and you'll be fine. Nothing they tell you at the doctor can or will be changed.. good luck!

They generally see you at 10-12 weeks. I would recommend getting seen just to make sure that everything is going well and baby is on track.
