Is it possible not to feel any contractions and still be dilating

I'm 37 week's and 3days I haven't felt any contractions at least I don't think so.  Where do you exactly feel contractions in your abdominal area? I've had quick pains down there like in my cervix they were pretty fast but a but painful they kind of felt like sharp stab pains are those contractions or could that be baby pushing on my cervix or something like that. I'm a ftm so idk what to expect or when to expect things to start happening

I don't think I've lost my mucus plug. Although I've had a lot of discharge lately but I don't if that's it there's no blood in it so I wouldn't think it is

I been contracting on and off and last Monday I was 50% thinned and 2 cm dilated. I'm 36+4 right now. I'm hoping I will have more progress this Monday at my drs appointment.

My doctor just told me that in order to dilate you need to have contractions. I just went to the doctor for losing some mucus plug and that's when she let me know about that part sis do thought id be a little dilated but nope.

With my youngest, I had BH all the time, but when I actually started to go into labor, my water had broken, I was dilating, but wasn't having contractions at all. So, I'd say it's pretty possible.

Yes its possible....and yes it feels like stabbing sharp pains...sometimes twisting pains. Contractions can be timed....but if it's not happening on a timed thing, then the baby is making its way down there getting ready for birth. Did you lose your mucus plug yet?
