Is it safe not to take folic acid?

I have been taking folic acid for a few months prior to my pregnancy but stopped as i thought i wasn't going to get pregnant, then when we found out we are pregnant, i took them everyday at 5 weeks pregnancy but i have stopped now for a few weeks as it makes me really sick as i had bad morning sickness, i have vomitted cos of the pill and just the thought of it already makes my tummy churn. I don't eat veggies also, is there anyone who has not taken folic acid and their baby turns out fine? Im around 8 weeks pregnant , i dont wanna take the risk tho but i can't swallow the damn pill

I take chewable prenatal when I remember and it has lytic acid in it. I might remember to take the prenatal 3 times and I am 23 weeks and my baby won't stop moving.

Yeah I agree, take folic acid alone if you can't stomach the prenatal.  But you really need to try to get a balanced diet for both you and baby.

Folic acid pills are really tiny.  Do you mean you vomited because of your prenatal?  Those are big.   I'd take at least the folic acid (by itself) in some applesauce or pudding later in the day.
