I am a nurse. I work in a busy offices on patient days. I am up and down all day. I am hoping to work until 39 1/2 weeks. This is baby #4. I am at 31 weeks and doing okay so far. I hope I make it. Lol
I don't get maternity leave. But I plan on stopping about a week before my scheduled c-section just to rest. I work 7 days a week. It's getting hard now. I'm 27 weeks (tomorrow)
Im 39 weeks and still working, I want to use all my time for my princess.
I think its similar in Russia. US, with two exceptions of CA and OR, really sees no value in bonding time w.child---- it is very sad. My mom, when we live in Russia stayed for almost 3 years.if ure a US citizen, CA and OR had a little better laws for maternity leaves.
Im also in australia and am going on maternity leave next week (34 weeks) and having a total of 2 years off...I get 6 weeks paid from my employer am taking 2 weeks annual leave and we get 18 weeks from the government so 6 months of the leave will be paid...im taking the rest unpaid as my partners wage can support us all and id rather be at home with my son...the good thing with my employer though is if I happen to fall pregnant again within those 2 years I can extend the maternity leave although it will still be unpaid but I will have a job to go back to :)
I live in ontario, canada. So we can take our mat leave whenever we want, keep in mind you only get 50 weeks ei and then you have to be back at work. So use it wisely.
If as you mentioned it is not necessary a money issue... if you feel like you are at any strain, discomfort or stress I would can the job.
I went on sick leave a week ago and I will stay on it until my baby arrives then go on mat leave. I am 35 weeks. I work retail so standing on my feet for 8 hours a day. I also have a complicated pregnancy which is why I am allowed sick leave.
Regardless, follow your body. If u cant eat healthy because your too tired to cook, well I would say the money isnt worth it.
I work for a cleaning company and clean buildings on my own so it is a lot of work I am working till the day before thanksgiving which I will be 38 weeks then and I am due December 10th.
Also a nurse that works 12hr night shift. I'm planning on stopping a week before my due date because everything has been healthy and pleasant so far. I would consider stopping sooner if I couldn't bare it any longer.
I'm a nurse so I never sit down (and barely stop long enough to pee) - worked until my midwives made me stop last time around at 38 weeks and will likely do the same this time unless something physical comes up and I have to stop earlier.
I plan on working up until the week im due. Im due 1/1/15 so id technically be off work anyways. I work for an inventory company which is on my feet, up and down ladders and a lot of bending. I get tired quicker than usual, but I'm also a few days past 33 weeks now.
Where I work we can only be there until 34 weeks unless we have clearance from our doctor. I live in Australia though so I guess we do things differently. I have three months maternity leave paid to me by my employer and then the government pays me 18 weeks maternity leave, plus any other annual leave I want to use! I stopped at 34 weeks as I couldn't sit in my chair without getting back pain and I was finding the hour and a half train commute each way too much,
I work in hr so I recommend u wait till ur d-day. FMLA call vers you up to 12 weeks, so if you go on leave prior to delivery you the hnically start losing timeb4 ur Lil one is born. FMLA is a job protection. Company cannot fire you, unless its position slim., then either way I'd be out of job. Look up ur eligibility online, small companies of either 50 or 75 or less employees within certain radious don't have to go by FMLA regulations...so then ud be eligible under STD either for 6 or 8 weeks depending on type of delivery.Again Companies r not required to offer that to ees.
I thought drs gave you the last month only.. idk I'm 7 months and I work at Starbucks and am constantly on my feet it's exhausting..
Law clerk mostly desk work. Last pregnancy worked until noon the day i had my little girl! This time around i am hoping to do the same!
I was on my feet and worked until my due date. I wanted my time off to be once the baby was born so didn't use up days I didn't have to beforehand. My doctor took me off work though before I had the baby as I was 10 days late--- so I had a couple of weeks off before I had my baby (if that makes sense---- I worked to right up until my set DUE date but didn't have the baby then . . . but then again, my first was a Christmas baby. I would have been off anyway).
I havent decided when ill start mine yet. I worked until i had my first, but now i work in a hospital delivering meals, and its so much running, and bending. Im 30 weeks, and already pooped. :-\ hoping i can make it all the way so i can save the extra time for baby snuggles. ;)
Thursday was my last day. I am a nurse so I too was on my feet all day. I was just about 38 weeks when I stopped.
