Thank you ladies and I will try those ideas because as a new its hard seeing my baby cry because of this problem.
If you want to breastfeed don't supplement with formula. The more you breastfeed the easier it will be and the more it will up your supply. If he's having trouble latching try contacting you're local LA Lache consultants or your local WIC office. They are an invaluable resource and will help you. Also sometimes difficulty latching can be a problem with a tongue tie- which is an easy fix. If you switch to formula try a low iron or talk to your pediatric doctor and see what gentle brand they recommend.
Gas drops and gripe water work great. And baby can go a week without going poop. It's normal. Especially with Breastfeeding because they absorb most of the nutrients not leaving much to poop.
My daughter was like that for months. Found out at 7 months that she had an egg allergy and was affected by my breast milk. Gripe water is amazing for gas and settles the sore tummy. Also YouTube infant massage for gas. It was super helpful for us.
My oldest was like that. I had to switch to a sensitive formula. Little did we know she had a allergy to milk and all the gas and not pooping was being caused by that. Try the sensitive or gentle formula and if not maybe look into a soy formula or if you do end up breastfeeding cut out milk and see if it does anything
MY son was the same way, it went away after about two weeks. If giving him formula, try gentle ease. You can also try a real warm bath, place a baby wash cloth on his tummy and pour warm water on it. rubbing clockwise just above his butt may help the gas move out a bit.
I plan to do both but since I'm still learning to nurse and he's not latching on well I been giving him formula.
Are you nursing or formula?
