Numb Hands

Does anyone else wake up with numb hands? I wake up in pain all throughout the night, my hands are numb/tingly and I can barely make a fist or open a water bottle. This lasts for hours after I wake up sometimes and its getting hard to handle. My Dr suggested sleeping with my arms on pillows or trying to wear braces and those options arent working.

Any and all suggestions would be appreciated! Id love to know what has helped other moms. Im 34 weeks 2 days, due October 7th.

I know your frustration with not being able to open things. I can't open jars, chop things, brush hair, fold laundry, drive, every day simple things kill my hands. Even using this app hurts!

I've had it for 10 years! Just have to wait until baby is born to have the surgery. Definitely worse during pregnancy.

I had this also., was told it was carpul tunnel. Turned out to be fluid retention even though I wasn't swollen. Sometimes when you drink water all day it pools, and them you lay down at night and it distributed to your limbs and then stops because your sleeping and laying still. What has been helping me is walking around my house (cleaning kitchen or something) about an hour before bed, shaking out my hands and making firsts before bed, making sure I don't drink water an hour before bed +I still sip just moved chugging+ and yes, propping my arms and my legs up in bed. I've been doing that routine about  a week and waking up much less stiff and tingly

I'm 34weeks and I also have this issue in the morning's.  I like to sleep on top of my hand's either under me or my pillow I've been having it for a month or two I figured it's because of that so I never actually asked my Dr.  When I wake up Noth arms are numb but no pain now when I go straight to the rr to brush my teeth my arms hurt when I bend them it feels like my blood pressure isn't circulating good enough. After a few mins it goes away. I don't do nothing but maybe I should mention to Dr.

Oh geeze, I couldn't imagine 6 months of this, I'm so sorry! I've dealt with it for about 2 weeks but now I'm in tears when I wake up and I cant open any jars or anything all day. I was craving pickles with my sandwich a few days ago, made everything and then I tried to open the pickle jar and just cried and cried because I couldn't make it budge at all. Definitely hoping it goes away right after birth!

My arms would be completely numb and my hands would be clinched shut. Took nearly 45 mins to get them to open. It's horrible, but yours should go away after birth. Just a few more weeks for you, I still have 6 more months lol.

I haven't tried heat or ice! I will definitely try that.

I've never dealt with anything like this before and never thought it'd be carpel tunnel. My Dr just said it was normal but wouldn't explain anything else.

I love sleeping with my arms bent and hands near my face but I've stopped that and make a point to sleep with my arms straight but it's still not helping.

Thank you ladies! I'm sorry you have to deal with this too :/

I had it with my first and was diagnosed with carpal tunnel. The numbness went away for a while but returned. The braces help with some numbness but not 100%.10 years later the carpal tunnel is severe and was suppose to have surgery but it has to wait now. Have you tried using ice packs or heat?

I'm going thru the same thing. I was diagnosed with g.diabetes at 27 weeks. I just have to extended my arm and wiggle my fingers. Anytime my elbow is bent it happens.

Sounds like carpal tunnel. Which is really common during pregnancy esp given the weeks you are. Once you have had baby it goes straight away. Ive never suffered with it myself but I've seen lots of ladies on here have had it so hopefully they can suggest something for you x
