Opinions on membrane sweep?

Hi ladies. I am almost 37 weeks with my third, and last, child. I was induced with my first at 38 weeks because he was no longer growing properly in the womb. I then opted to get induced with my second at 39 weeks because I was miserable ( as most of us are at that point). So for this baby I was determined to experience what it was like to go into labor on my own. That exciting "its time!" moment. I have just learned about membrane sweeps during this pregnancy,  and have started to contemplate having one. I am a little torn on if I feel like this is inducing labor or just giving it a friendly shove to start. From all that I have read, it isnt a guaranteed thing and only works if your body and baby are ready anyway. What do you think? Is it not the same as having a scheduled induction and being hooked up to machines, or is it pushing fate nonetheless?  I would hate to get one and later regret it. BUT I am miserable and ready to get things going. Thanks in advance for your thoughts :)

My doctor explained a membrane sweep as if your standing on the edge of a cliff and someone pushes you, you will fall off. But if your standing far away and someone pushes you you will only move ahead slightly. Lol same with babies the membrane sweep only works if your baby is coming soon anyways it gives them a push and if they are still not ready to come not much will happen. I would say try it and see, I know some women have it done multiple times before they go into Labour

I'm 38 weeks with my 3rd & am getting a sweep on Thursday at my appointment.  If it works fantastic!  If it doesn't it won't hurt. Best of luck to yoy!

See thats what I mean, it isnt a guarantee anyway. If it didnt work I would be okay with that. I just dont want to have an induction this time around. Just not sure if I feel like a sweep takes away from doing it on my own or only assists in it. If that makes sense :)
