should I switch my obgyn?

So I scheduled an appt to see a certain doctor that my friend recommended she was so happy with him he delivered 2 of her babies. I specifically said I'd like to see this doctor. When I came for my first app he wasn't there because he had an emergency c section (1st red flag).. then the nurse writes me out an refferral for sequential screening but marks off Penta screening, so I went in to get that Penta screening done and thank God the nurse called my ob gyn and they said it was a mistake... my results would come out wrong obviously and that would scare the life out of me and my bf I'm only on week 10... and the stupid doctor even went through all the referrals the nurse gave me and didn't even see this huge mistake!!!!!!! I really want to see that other doctor but when my next appointment is due he is gonna be gone on vacation for 2 weeks.... this is so messed up and I'm just so thankful for that girl at the lab that caught that mistake...

No matter what OBGYN you choose They may be gone for an emergency surgery, c-sections or delivery of a baby. Keep in mond your not the only patient/ pregnant woman. A emergency c-section or delivery is a higher priority than your routine appointment. That can always been rescheduled but a women cannot hold a baby in..lol.  Anyway, as far as the referral mistakes.. things happen. Your friend never had any issues. Guess it's your call to give them a chance or not.

Yes definitely the fact that that doctor looked at that refferral and even read the word out loud "penta screen" and didn't catch is is good enough reason for me to switch. It's a shame I didn't get to need that other doctor but even front desk girls were rude and we're eating right at their working desks with crumbs everywhere while phones rang and they didn't even blink to answer.

I work in a lab and we know what test are the common ones that are to be ordered. If we find a potential error we call the aide to verify tests. Good thing you got yours double checked. As for the doctor issue. I've had the same the doctor for my first two but she was always booked at least 3 months out and always on vacation. I just simply switched doctors. My new doctor is full time and always willing to see me with my weird work schedule .

Babies are so unpredictable and unfortunately its been me who's taken up the drs time or had mine cancel all his afternoon appointments to do my csection to save my life, so I have to say im usually pretty flexible when he's running late or having a day off. However, the hospital on the otherhand drive me crazy. I was admitted for 3 days and they had no record of me, lost all my test results! Admin mistakes are common and I guess you've got to make up your own mind what's an easy error and someone having a bad day and what's just plan negligent and sets off your intuition to change. Goid luck with your decision!

I agree with @gugu2010 I wudnt see the emerg csection as a flag...**** happens. However the lab mistakes are a no no for me, yeah ppl make mistakes but that wud scare me away!!! Truth is u'll find short comings everywhere u go just make sure u stick with a doc ur very comfortable with and make sure u feel free to challenge or ask questions and get answers from them. I use a group so I hardly see the same doc In a row n I have no idea which will deliver  my baby but they ensure I meet each doc by the time I deliver and they've all been great so far and my sister delivered 3 babies with them so I'm happy :) but congrats!!! And I hope u find a great doc soon :)

Its not a red flag if you are the woman needing the emegency c-section. That is exactly what you want your doctor there. If your not happy with his support team your only 10 weeks you have time to have an app with someone else just to see if your more comfortable with them.
