Positive Open Neural Tube Screen

I am 17 weeks with my husband and I's first.  I just received a call saying my blood work came back and my risk was elevated for open neural tube deformities. I meet with a specialist and have my ultrasound next Tuesday. Has anyone had this and how did it turn out? I'm trying to remain positive, but this entire pregnancy I've been a nervous wreck! Thank you!!!

Thanks all!!! I'm attempting to not Google, and just wait the five days until I see someone for further testing hoping to walk away with a healthy prognosis either way we can't wait to meet our little one.

I have never understood why people get those tests done.  There isnt much they can do about it, your precious little gift is what it is. Why stress?

They are not a diagnosis test so please don't worry. Get the ultrasound and I bet you feel loads better when they can't find anything wrong.

I went through that with my first. It was a false positive. Them blood work test have a lot of false positives. And they will probably scare the hell out of you before you get the ultrasound done telling you all the things that could be wrong. Try very hard to stay calm and not worry. It stressed me so bad and in the end there was nothing wrong. Good luck!!!
