Pregnancy and Exercise

Hi mommies to be, this is my first pregnancy and I'm wondering if its safe to continue working out and going to the gym while pregnant. I have been working out for about 4 weeks now and lost 5 lbs, and just found out I am 4 weeks pregnant. I'm not overweight, just trying to stay in shape and eat right. I was really excited about the weight loss but now worried because of the pregnancy. I'm afraid if I continue to work out I'll keep losing weight instead of gaining weight like what's normal in a pregnancy. Any insight would be great!!!

Working out is great for your pregnancy. My dr said lift nothing over 15lbs and don't do overhead, because it can cause your abs to separate(destasis recti i think it's called). Ive worked out continuously and am 35 weeks now and so glad i did. I've had energy through whole pregnancy and never got morning sickness.
Also, core work is actually something you SHOULD do, even my birthing teacher(along with the net and drs) suggests it,because it can help with pushing. Just dont do abwork like crunches after a certain point. I stuck with cardio, core (like planks which are safe for preggos), weights under 15lbs and barre classes which i totally recommend and have preggo specific modifications.

Thanks ladies! Most of the online reading says exercise is okay but I'm mostly worried about the weight loss. Who ever thought that would be a bad thing lol.

Cardio is good while pregnant, I also do leg workouts and arm workouts, I don't do any core workouts because it's not like my belly is going to get any smaller. Lol just don't do any heavy lifting and tell your doctor all the exercises you're doing.

Whatever exercise you're doing now is perfectly safe to carry on as your body is already used to it. Just don't go crazy overboard or do anything dangerous that could cause you to fall and hurt yourself.
You can always ask your healthcare provider for extra information.
