Question for my friend.

So my friend went in for her glucose test and she threw up a bit.  She went to her dr apt and her dr said to go back for the blood work only to drink.. How does that test the same thing.  How are they seeing how her body digest the sugar without actually taking it.  Why do we have to drink that nasty drink if they could possibly get the results anyway. And why waste money buying it if they can avoid it period.  I'm just wondering. I took mine and would do it again to ensure the health of my baby.

Thanks.  I took mine already I'll suck it up if it means accurate reading for my levels I'll tell her she has nothing to worry about them thanks

Your friend probably had to fast overnight before having her blood taken. You could probably request this, but it's probably a lot easier, less uncomfortable, and more accurate to just take the drink.

I know what it is.. she wants to know if the results are the same even though they didn't make her take the drink.. mines covered through my insurance but I'm saying why would the medical offices waste resources on the drink if basically they didn't need to.

Its a glucose test. They want to check ur sugar to see if you have Gestational diabetes. Its to make sure so u dont have problems birthing a big baby. Id tell her to do it again. Sux u have to pay tho
