Really? The eclipse? No. Rant.

So I've heard a few versions of this now. The "blood moon" lunar eclipse will cause early labor, or birth defects, or even lycanthrope (werewolf) children, unless you wear red underwear, or pins of some sort, or put keys on in some way. I have to say, to each their own, but in my opinion it's pure superstitious nonsense. Absolutely NONE of this had a scientific basis. There's never been a sudden bout of cities of women going into early labor, no cities full of children with defects all at once, etc. I couldn't imagine taking any of it seriously myself. I'm not even going by the thought of better safe than sorry. And even if it DID affect you (it wont.)  wearing colorful underwear or a lil metal pin wouldn't help. I guess I just can't believe it. But, people have believed in sillier things and still do. Call it hormones, but this ones just funny.

I was really confused so I googled it.  Apparently it comes from an Aztec (or Mayan, can't remember,  not about to re-google) belief.  It's an interesting superstition & I'm surprised I hadn't heard it before... my dad & grandma are actually from mexico & my other grandma is just big on mexican superstition (like ojo).

I knock on wood, & I've had eggs rubbed all over my body, & I do the salt thing, I don't like broken mirrors or black cats or walking under ladders... but this one I just couldn't really comprehend.

I know there has been some fringe science research on full moons & the effect they have on reducing negative ions causing a superfluous amount of positive ions which in turn makes people act a little weird... so I do wonder if maybe this is something similar? Though I wore white undies & no shiny keys or pins, lol.

Btw, I never believed in the full moon craze until I worked a psychiatric hospital for many many full moons.  We could be dead, but when the full moon came here came the suicide calls (left & right), the people coming in telling me they were going to kill me or slit their throats, or they had overdosed on something or they were tweaking.  It was insane.  Literal lunacy!  Lol that's when one of the LPCs told me to look it up & I found out about the negative & positive ions.  It makes sense... the gravitational pull is strong enough to move tides!

Anyway,  just my two cents.

Pregnant women stress out anyways, and to stress out about something like this just seems ridiculous. Like I said, to each their own, but it literally made me laugh out loud how serious some people are about it. Humans are silly creatures.

Its comes from their culture and from religious beliefs and some people really believe in it. There are many many things like this out there not just this one about the blood moon. Most of them originate from cultures where there wasn't a big emphasis on science or it comes from a time long long ago and its turned in to a tradition of sorts. Yes it is superstition but if thats someones beliefs thats someones beliefs, I dont think its right to be rude and judgy of peoples belief system and I dont think them talking about it, though most of us seemit as sill, is harming anyone. To each his own I guess

The color red doesn't do anything, neither does looking at the moon. Total superstitious B.S. in my opinion - I'm siding with science on this one.

I saw this in a post earlier and just had to comment on how silly I thought it was. Don't get me wrong I totally understand its part of some families culture so I don't intend to be rude in anyway but how exactly is fancy underwear going to prevent such things?? As if I could fit in mine anyway haha
