I'll ask the doc about calcium Dacelc, that's interesting, hadn't heard anything about that before.
Also I've been speaking to friends who have had babies more recently and they say you are now given an injection in the thigh just as baby is being delivered and this helps the placenta to come away. This wasn't done last time I had my baby but that was a long time ago so maybe there are better measures for preventing retained placenta now. Fingers crossed it won't happen for either of us again!
I had a similar experience with my second. From what I read, there us a pretty decent chance of it happening again. But I agree being induced may have played a role, the uterus and placenta may not have gotten the signals or the time they needed to separate properly. Here's hoping both if us have better luck next time. :)
Did your ob say anything about it being sticky because of too much calcium? That's an effect of too much calcium in your diet while pregnant.
