I am a pescatarian, i eat no meats besides seafood and im pregnant again. I was concerned at first bc my first pregnancy i ate meat but then changed my diet after having her. I talked to my doc about ut and she told me to eat like i normally would! I dont eat fish high in mercury but i do eat fish, shrimp all that just cooked. I never liked raw anything. But point is im very healthy and so is baby. Just be sure everything is completely cooked
I eat sushi cooked tho. 23 weeks
Honestly I ate sushi throughout both pregnancies and my kids are as healthy as ever.
The reason it's considered unsafe is the possibility of parasites. Same with deli meats they should be heated even though they are precooked it can have listeria. I never stated pork and fish were the same. Yes , the sushi you order may be cooked but it is prepared at the same place therefore unless you are making it yourself I wouldn't trust it. Fish is good for you as well unless it contains high mercury , which is why it is suggested to be careful how much you consume. As I stated before it's not very common especially if you are careful.
As long as the sushi you eat is cooked ex tempura snyrhing is fine. It's cooked! As the above poster said, raw pork is dangerous for anyone pregnant or not! But I've had cooked sushi all throughout my pregnancy and am carrying a perfectly healthy baby at 22 weeks.
Undercooked pork and raw sushi are completely different. You should *never* eat undercooked pork - pregnant or not.
Lol. Your doctor should go to Japan and tell the women there it's bad to eat sushi when they're pregnant. They'd laugh him out of the country. I ate raw sushi through both pregnancies with no problems. Just make sure you go somewhere you trust.
Sushi is really not good I watch ashow a woman ate undercooked pork once and it gave her baby a parasite that he lost his vision. So any under cooked or not heated meat can cause listeria or a parasite, I don't think it's common but I wouldn't chance it. Sushi is going to be my first meal I love it I'm dying for it my family eats it in front of me, so I feel your pain.
