The birth of Penelope Grace

My 100% natural calm birth. Must say im pretty proud of myself - i cant believe i did it! Had mild contractions and a bloody show at 8am this morning. By 1pm they were 3mins apart lasting for 60-90 seconds. We left for the hospital at 2:30pm. By this stage contractions were quite intense but I was able to just breathe through them, using all my meditation and visualisation practise.
My water broke just before 4pm and then I moved into the birth pool. By this stage I could feel a real lot of pressure and my body was starting to push. I continued to breathe through the pushing, just letting my body do the work. And at 4:35pm she was born! Head was out and then a few minutes later with the next contraction and a mighty big yell she was out! I had some external tears needing a few stitches.

We are now home from the birth centre (12pm in Australia) and just having another breast feed. She is perfect!!

Thank you ladies, I forgot to mention she was 9.8 pounds. That's probably why there was a bit of tearing. It certainly wasn't easy but if you set your mind to it you can do it! It was so rewarding!
