Musad, your wife's case is puzzling. She was being treated for low iron although her hemoglobin was "not low at all" - do you know what her numbers were? And then the doctor wanted to give your wife a blood transfusion because she believed the baby wasn't moving an average amount?
So you switched doctors. (Did you switch practices, or are you going to the same practice but now you have a different doctor?) And this new doctor believes your wife has insufficient Amniotic fluid, and has placed her on an AMINOVA drip, which I can't find a single reference to being used in cases of low amniotic fluid. That doesn't mean it's not, though, obviously.
It's puzzling that both doctors seem to be treating your wife for conditions in an unusual way, and giving her 10 ultrasounds in 6 months. I think the jury is still out on whether ultrasounds are harmful, and that's why the AMA has come out against mall ultrasounds, saying they may last too long or be given too frequently. (Of course, this may just be the AMA protecting their profit source).
I don't know Pakistan's medical practice model. Is it possible they're making up reasons to treat your wife because you are paying?
Your wife's Dr was right stating her HB is low as 10 is considered low and 12 is the normal range. In case of pregnancy, it's essential to keep HB at standard level for proper growth n nutrition of developing fetus and also to avoid any risky situation at time of delivery.
Further for amniotic fluid measurement, they can assess it's level by ultrasound only and you can also read results what it states instead of just believing in Dr's words .i don't think any Dr will put your wife on unnecessary medication..
Seems like you rely more on your own opinion than any Dr and finding ALL the drs greedy to get money ..
Try to stay positive.
I had to have ultrasounds every other week with my first as they suspected that he had a blockage in his food and wind pipes. Turns out he didn't but he was fine with all the ultrasounds.
What state are you in? There are some top notch place here in the state of Maryland.
I think it is perfectly fine i get an ultrasound everytime i go to my doctor appts. & with my last baby it was the same & shes a very healthy 1 year old :)
Ultrasounds are perfectly safe. Some people get them almost weekly depending on the circumstances. Your wife's circumstances, by the sounds of it, require several ultrasounds to keep a close watch on the amount of amniotic fluid surrounding your baby, as you have stated, it's on the low end.
Btw you do have the option of refusing treatment or ultrasounds. My OB wanted to do one once hair because I was in that room due to construction and I refused because I didn't feel it was needed.
If you are concerned it's worth a second opinion. Research top fetal medicine dr in your area and the top OB.
It may be worth driving a little to visit a new dr for a consult.
It sounds like she's undergone a Lot of treatment, however it may be nessisary. I had a friend who's pregnancy went a lot like your wife's and they have an amazing 6 yearlold now who's top of her class.
When in doubt Always make your dr explain why and you can even request they get the blood work/labs to prove the need for treatment.
Best of luck!
