Just name your baby whatever you like and dont tell anyone until you have the baby. No one will be able to copy it.
If it's your brother in law than your hubby really needs to talk to him. That's just weird to name a kid the same thing as their first cousin. How confusing will that be at family gatherings. Just changing the spellings Raye and Ray and Clayton and Clay doesn't make the name different. And both called K and CJ? Sounds like your brother in law has some sibling rivalry issues.
That's what I thought wishes2891 thank you!
You're right to be annoyed...
My mom had that issue when she devolged names when I was born. She had male and female names picked...well once she had two girls, my aunt took the male name my mother had wanted. She never said she was done having babies at the time and it ticked her off to no end. What if they went for number three and it was a boy....some ppl just don't think about anyone but themselves.
Name him whatever you like. Next time keep the baby's name a secret. I myself have experience this and don't like anyone copying the name I choose for my son.
That would annoy me to no end! That's really weird. They should feel awkward copying you so obviously. Can't they come up with their own ideas?!
Sorry, I would be upset too and if it were me I would probably pick another name and not tell anyone til the baby is born. But you can do what you want, there are no rules.
Ya I told them it's a little too close again for me and I didn't wanna deal with it again so I would more than likely choose a different name and he just laughed. It just upsets me. I mean to already have 2 children called the same thing it's confusing for the kids and everyone in the family because we never know which kid they are referring to I don't want to add to it.
Oh I would be so mad, especially if his wife is due before you. They already basically stole your name once, now they want to do it again?! If I were you, I would tell my husband to talk to his brother. If his brother has any decency, he'll pick a new name. If he doesn't, then oh well, at least you tried.
My BIL and SIL tried doing the same thing to us! My husband went so crazy on them though that they dropped their copy cat name lol. But our family kept saying the same thing. "Who cares if they have similar names? " Well we cared because there are not going to be many cousins in this family so there is no reason for over lapping names. I would advise having your hubs have a serious discussion with them. Good luck! :)
If it were my sister's I'd rip their heads off! But its the in laws and that changes the game. I agree ur hubby has to be the one to confront them but I doubt it would do any good cuz they had no problem stealing ur name with ur daughter. Personally if they didn't change the name I would have to change it because I could imagine myself getting furious everytime we were together with the kids. Good luck let us know what happens!
Thanks ladies! I talked to the hubby and he said just name him Clayton and then he will talk to his brother. I don't think it will matter anyways when BIL knew I was upset he laughed about it. I'm thinking heavily on changing the name. I will keep you all updated!
Your brother in law sounds like a weirdo! Lol! I'm with you! Who does that!?! Seriously!?! I'd be pissed!
