Vicodin rx

Well my doctor prescribed vicodin, 3 a day, 5/500,  for my sciatic pain. Now I am 20 days away from delivery and he's saying its possible my son will be born addicted! I dont understand why i wasnt told about this earlier. do you think it's enough time to wean off or stop conpletely and he will be ok? I'd rather be in pain than have him go through that. Does anyone have actual experience with this?

Well, first off, when you fill the prescription you should be informed.  Not all doctors tell you this.  Vicodin is actually a lot safer then some of the things they could have prescribed you.  In my opinion I would WEEN yourself off and in the same aspect slowly bring baby down. It's possible that it's born with an addiction but the stress your body and the baby go through if you stop cold turkey is much much worse on both of you.  You'll need to talk to your doctor about the safest method of cutting back as it can be dangerous to try alone.  That prescription doesn't sound like a lot to me though especially if you're only taking that much.  Basically it's 5MG vicodin/500MG tylenol.

I went to a hospital 4 days ago for a kidney infection my doctor also prescribed me with vicodin. I only took one because after staying 2days in the hospital my pain wouldn't go away. And after that 1 I felt better. I think if you stop taking them the baby will be ok. Ask another doctor to be sure..

No experience with this but I cant believe your dr prescribed that to you knowing you were pregnant and didn't tell you the risks. I would think about changing drs and be careful when u stop taking them you dont want to just stop immediatley, it will need to be gradual. Good luck!
