Weight

I will be 7 weeks tomorrow, but I'm already 271lbs! I want to lose at least 20lbs without harming my child. Is it possible?

I weighed 276 when i got preg. Lost a few pounds and gained approx 5 in my first and second trimester.  I am 35wks and am at 292. My ob says its fine I haven't gained last few visits. I know that when your preg is NOT the time to start a diet. Your baby needs the nutrition you get from healthy food. You can def eat better and try to be active but your going to gain a little.

I drastically changed my eating habits due to non pregnancy related health issues and i lost 22 pds so far. I started at 180.  Not trying to lose weight but eating better and cutting out pop and sugary drinks has had a positive effect for me! Doctor says it is ok as long as i am eating which i am just choosing better options (not by choice)  i would kill for a slice of pizza!

Cut the junk - eat healthy and stay active. Don't try to lose weight! If you do those things you'll be fine no matter what the scale says trust me :)

I am overweight as well. I lost 23 pounds in the first 11 weeks and have gained 1 back, I am 18+1. I didn't change anything and I am hoping to keep weight to a minimum throughout this pregnancy. Eat healthy and move around, if you have access to a pool, water is a great way to get a low impact workout. Good luck.

I have lost about 10 lbs since I have been pregnant, I am over weight, I have not lost the weight sue yo morning sickness, nor due to dieting. I just changed my eating habits while pregnant, less fast food, less junk, more veggies and water..my doctor is not concerned as the weight loss has been over the 18 weeks (currently 18 weeks), and the reason for the weight loss is due to eating healthy not sue to dieting.... I believe you should talk with a doctor before making any changes.

Definitely check with your doctor first. I'm overweight and that was the first question I asked at my first appointment. My OB said she did not want me to loose weight but to just watch my diet and incorporate healthier foods.

i have actually heard of people losing weight if its neccessary, consult with your doctor, if anything just by eating as healthy as you can will help alot, they say you dont necessarily have to put on alot of weight until youre closer to your 3rd trimester ...but id be careful with the type of exercise you do, you dont want to hurt yourself or the baby

Eat healthy and do mild to moderate exercise. Don't over strain.

They don't advice you to try and lose weight while pregnant. What you can do is drink lots of water and walk more. Most of the weight may be water weight.
