Wine

Hey everyone!  I am only 6 weeks pregnant and I was wondering what everyone's thoughts are about drinking a glass of wine while pregnant. I have heard mixed opinions and I read the MD's really do not know what is safe. Thanks!

Personally I wouldn't risk it as I'm a high risk pregnancy.  But the older women in my country say a glass of red wine is good for your blood and baby. They drink red wine and guiness for iron :/
I can't stomach either drink not pregnant.

I'm not sure how I feel about one small wine... usually I'm very opinionated but I actually duno what I think of it. :/ lol

There's so much controversy surrounding this issue. I honestly doubt that ONE glass of wine would have any effect but my personal opinion why? I mean is one glass of wine really of so much importance. I think refraining is best, but its a personal choice I guess.

The official word is there is no safe amount of alcohol you can consume while pregnant. That being said, I had less than a half glass of wine at a work event @ 13 weeks and a glass on my birthday, with dinner drunk over the course of 2 1/2 hours at the end of my 2nd trimester. I waited until I was out of my 1st trimester because that is when the brain is developing. I'll have 1 more glass when I go into labor which my doctor and doula suggested. Again, no amount is 'safe' use your best judgement.

I tried to have a glass of quality wine while in the later portion of my pregnancy,  but not a thought of it in my early pregnancy.  I got sick and it came back up anyway.  Sometimes the body just says no. Anyway while your little one is developing so quickly and such important organs right now id hold off on the single glass of wine. Grape juice sounds better right now. ;-)
