@monachiha as a sober alcoholic in recovery, I can assure you that your doctor's advice is NOT targeted at alcoholics and addicts. They are the ones who should stop completely more than anyone for exactly the reason you stated - they cannot control portions. I know in my active days, someone telling me to have half a glass would be laughable!! :) I am blessed I was five years sober before ever getting pregnant :) <3

Mine said absolutely not. I go to a university hospital.  They did research on it. He said they still can't figure out why one mom will have 1 drink and the baby has issues while another drinks entire pregnancy and that baby's fine. I'm ok with waiting 9 months. It's not long. But it's up to the mom

My midwives encourage an occasional small glass of wine or dark beer for relaxation and stress relief. I haven't indulged at all so far as I'm only 10 weeks but during my pregnancy with my son I would have a beer once every week or two in my second trimester, and neither of us suffered any ill effects.

I've asked my obstetrician and he said half a glass is OK. I think this is mostly aimed at alcoholics and binge drinkers who can't control their portions. Half a glass every so often is OK but it's always good to check with your own doctor

Maybe a glass of wine drank in double the time it would usually take to drink instead of drinking it all in 15mins or 30, take 45 mins or an hour.  I would think that's fine.  Cuz I know for myself I would get buzzed just off one glass if I drank it within 15-20 mins...lol
