As long as they are thoroughly cooked then you can eat as much as you want.

Depends i guess on the state you are in....With my first i was in kentucky and the health department did monthly checks and it's mandated they check the meats every hour....then grade of sanitation was posted on the entrance door!

To each their own if they choose to eat subway or not!

Ditto. I have been bombarded with cook outs this spring and have had plenty of hot dogs. It's fine.

Yeah it is usually fine. Its all healthy there its just that its a bigger risk to pregnant women. I'm staying away from it but I still crave it like crazy. I used to eat it everyday lol . Mmm bmt

hmm, well I guess that is scary.. and sort of disgusting lol, BUT I've had a few cold cut trios from subway & me & baby are okay!

the chances of getting listeria aren't HUGE unless their meat has been sitting out for way too long.. I'd even ask (I'm not ashamed) how long their meat has been sitting out.. it's not often they get asked that question so the truth usually comes out pretty quick lol

my OB said subway is fine.. she's had women literally eat cold meats from subway every single day & they were/are fine, my mama ate cold sandwiches all throughout her pregnancies with me & my brother, I mean the list goes on & on.. it's up to you, but I think it's fine. hotdogs are okay!! lol anytime I make a sandwich though, I DO heat the meat up.. like a hotdog! You are not supposed to eat cold hot dogs. They have to be heated to at least 140 degrees.

Not to scare anyone but I saw the comment about subway and I used to work there. They DO NOT monitor anything. Basically they get it out of the fridge and put it out and then keep doing that until the expiration date.

Subway actually publicly states that their meat is not safe for pregnant women and toasting does not kill bacteria because it does not heat it to steaming . The only "safe" options while pregnant are tuna, meatball, and chicken breast subs.

I had a hot dog for lunch from Hardee's.. my OB says they're fine as long as they're cooked & you don't eat them every single day..

she said she had a patient who craved them & literally ate up to 6 a day!! lol
I'm not that obsessed with them, but I do enjoy one every now & then! (((:

As long as it's heated until steaming and you're not eating like 15 hot dogs a month, you're okay lol

My last pregnancy they made me really sick. I couldn't eat them again for a year & 1/2 but I've been craving them this pregnancy so when I made one I made homemade chili in the crockpot for the next day's dinner and used some of that on top of my hot dog with onions and mustard. I was extremely happy lol.. Luckily, they didn't make me sick so I really enjoyed that part, too...ha

Omg ! I'm so glad to read this post and all the responses. I absolutely hate hot dogs but ever since I've been pregnant I've been craving but fighting it knowing it was on the no no list. I'm wanting a gourmet style dog. Like a all beef with chili and jalapeƱos and cheese, or a Costco polish with kraut and mustard.....I'm going for it!

I ate a tuna sandwich (and not the light crap) friday and beef hot dogs last monday. Don't feel too guilty every once in a while is okay as long as they were well cooked.

The only reason your not suppose to eat them is they are a hard processed food (lunch meat is the same way) they grow bacteria faster then other types of non processed foods. As long as you eat them fully cooked (both hotdogs and lunch meat) and they are freshly opened you are ok!

(I eat hotdogs all the time both pregnamcies....and only time I eat lunch meat is from subway (I have it toasted) because they monitor the time spand and freshness of their meat every hour!)

Hot dogs are considered a deli meat so you have to cook them really good before eating them. I heard they have nitrates so you aren't supposed to eat them all the time but once in awhile is fine.
