My one sister used bio oil and she had no problem and that's how I got it was from her but my other sister said coconut oil is amazing and it's natural and its good for breast feeding and baby as well.. So I think I'm gonna try that :) there is mixed reviews on bio oil and that worries me. . Dont wanna risk anything.

Theres so many other oils that are way more effective. I use a mixture of coconut oil, vitamin E oil, almond oil, and pure shea butter.

Vit E I've heard works well, coconut oil, I've not heard of the apricot oil but might have to try it since it sounds like it'd smell nice. I use cocoa butter now myself which is working nicely (I'm only 9 weeks but have stretch marks just from previous weight gain),but I don't like the smell at all. I've heard of several women using bio oil however I do know that Retain A is supposed to be a no no during pregnancy as far as acne medications go. Don't know if the same amount is in the bio oil though  (It can also increase sensitivity to sun so I wouldn't put it on and go lay out)

My mum has used bio oil when pregnant with me and my brother. We turned out fine. I asked my Dr if it's safe to use as my mum never get stretch marks. Heard the same thing you heard. The obgyn said its not true and doesn't cause birth defects.

I'm using bio oil now and everything seems to no fine. No stretch marks yet at 26 weeks. I agree that if it caused birth defects they def wouldn't be able to advertise it for pregnant women. My sister used in pregnancy and my friend also and their babies had no problems. I think they really overdue it with all these things they say can hurt a baby these days. It's getting ridiculous!

So many mums to be use bio oil (including myself) and havent had an issue. And have never heard of it causing defects. I know injesting stuff like that can cause issues but bio oil is made for pregnant women so I doubt there would be issues otherwise the company would be getting their a***** sued.

I used in for a week & a friend told me not to. Its petroleum based. The package says not to use it in your first trimester. I've given it up now, I'll try the coconut oil.

I use bio oil to lighten tmmy existing stretch marks - I haven't received any new ones since beginning to use it, but I didn't begin using it until I already had a ton. I'm a firm believer that they're genetic though. From either your mother or your father, if you get them one of them probably had skin that was easily susceptible to stretch marks. My mom has them, but not many - I think I probably got them from my dad. Oh well, lol

Well I was using bio oil and my husbands friends wife said her doc told her not to use it so I got all worried.  I asked my sister and she said coconut oil is amazing and actually works! So I'm gonna try that instead!

I just use apricot oil.  I haven't heard of bio oil, but I tried the Palmers stuff & it was def a no go for me.  From asking around, the plain old cold pressed oils seem to be the best. :). A lot of my friends swear by plain coconut oil I just don't like the consistency. Lol hence the reason i use apricot oil.  It's still food grade & what not but it's more like olive oil at room temp.

I have a few things I want to try, BUT I do know that out of all of the pregnancy magazines that my OB gave me.. Bio Oil is in a LOT of them, it's actually one of the most recommended things in the magazines I have!! (((:

I haven't gotten any yet, but I have a sample of the Palmer's stretch mark cream.. they have a few, and I think they have oils too? I guess it's just best to try a lot & see what works! lol
