I'm so sorry to hear that an thank you. With my first pregnancy I was fine I was 40 weeks when I had my son. An now with this pregnancy I was worried it might affect my daughter buy my doc hasn't said anything about it so I guess its just me worried cause I would be devestated if something would happen to my baby girl. Your in my prayers your gonna have a beautiful an healthy baby.!!

I believe they do the blood work earlier that they use to. I was 6 months pregnant 6years ago when I got a call from the doctor saying my son failed the afp test. They explain it had to do with the spine or the brain I was mortified!!! I know how you feel. I didnt want this to happend again with this pregnancy I actually got all the genetics test done around 16 or 17 weeks plus an ultrasound about two weeks ago everything seems normal. As to my last son I had to wait an agonizing week to find out what was really wrong it was the worst time in my life just imagining a baby without a brain-that's one of the failed afp test could of been the lady on the phone told me. A week later I got a 3d ultrasound done by the doctor and said my son had gastroschisis nothing to do with the brain I was relieved it was still very serious he had 5 operations and 4long months in the nicu. With this pregnancy I've been pushing to make sure everything is ok. I never want to feel that anguish again. Praying for your baby!!

If your doctor is concerned you will likely be.sent for testing. You should discuss your concerns with your doctor.

Around 20 weeks your doc should have sch an us which would be able to tell any birth defects. Also the gentic testing is offered

Did you do the blood and amniotic testing? I think some defects can be picked up on an ultrasound and you would have been told by now. Is there a reason you are worried? Does something not feel right with your pregnancy?
