can a twin be missed at 7 and 17 week US?

Okay so I've had a feeling it's twins for the longest but my 7 week ultrasound showed one. Again I began feeling movement incredibly early at 11 weeks albeit it's my second pregnancy. I am measuring about2-3 weeks ahead. I had my concerns because of the movement's in two different spots at the same time at 16weeks and I thought the baby would be too small to do that....so I voiced my concern to my obgyn and she was very skeptical but during the Doppler we both clearly heard 2 heartbeats that were different from each other and loud and strong healthy heartbeats.....so I had an ultrasound at 17 weeks that only showed one large baby... but I still feel like there is another hiding in there. They could not explain the 2nd heartbeat but I felt they didn't look every where like cervix to findings they just looked at my one large baby in the middle...... now I am obese and this happened to my cousin where she is obese and had 2 ultrasounds and at birth she had twins and everyone  was completely surprised. I feel a lot of pressure where my bladder is and I thought by now the baby should  have moved up and I still feel that "feels like more" movement. Can another baby be hiding still? Can my belly fat be making it hard to see? Could a twin be hiding behind my bladder? I get another ultrasound on Thursday for my 19 week anatomy scan....

I don't really know how it can be hard to see if its 2 babies or not. This early in your pregnancy your uterus isn't that big. I'm currently 30 weeks pregnant with my second set of twins and they were easily visible from the very first ultrasound.

The Dr heard it and started talking about how I was going to go through a twin pregnancy which is the same until the 3rd trimester where I would get more appointments .... she was convinced and said she never heard them sound like they did and it not be twins. The ultrasound only looked around the one baby towards the top of my uterus...... not down near my bladder where I have a lot of pressure..... and movement..... I get my anatomy scan Thursday...

I was pretty convinced I was having twins with my 3rd.  I was surprised to only see one on the ultrasound.  But sure enough there was only one in there.  Its not impossible, but not probable that they would have missed it twice.

You sure you didn't hear the placenta pulsating? It sounds a lot like a heartbeat. Usually it's pretty hard to miss multiples, but, not impossible.

I just don't know. The tech seen one but I just know it's 2. I have a feeling. I even dreamed that I had an ultrasound and it showed one baby then immediately afterwards I gave birth to twins and one was smaller considerably where the other was huge. I just can't shake hearing the 2 heartbeats and I never used this practice before with my first so I don't know how good they are but everything is new. New hospital New practice. And new as in just built.
