Eat a banana if will raise your potassium and help.

I was having this issue as well. Doc said I wasn't getting enough calcium. Which he then added to my daily vitamins. Always talk to your doc/midwife about problems happening.

Also great tip by mariposa, when you feel them coming on point your toes back at you (pull them back to the ceiling) as hard as you can! Just don't accidently point your toe straight ahead or you'll be in for a painful treat haha.

It's of course not simply caused by not enough water or potassium but definitely take in as much of both as you can. A lot of also has to do with stiffness in the legs and not being able to be as active as you perhaps once were or able to stretch like you used too. Posture as well.

I have found that stretching my legs before bed and trying to work out those calf and thigh muscles helped immensely and I stopped waking up with those severe painful calf spasms.

Drink more water. Those are caused by dehydration
