I plan on asking my doctor about this my next appointment,  but I am just curious if any mom's pulled through with this? Advantages/disadvantages?  Is it expensive?

I was very interested in it and still haven't decided yet.  It is expensive but that's not really a problem for us at the moment.  My doc said that 50% of obgyns do it for their children.  Not sure where that leaves me but I thought it was an interesting statistic.  Honestly,  I probably won't do it, mostly bc I haven't decided yet and km already 36 weeks.  I wouldn't want to pay all of that money to order the kit then go into labor before it arrives.  It's a tough decision.  However, if my son needed it someday and I decided against it I would feel VERY guilty.

Yes i'm picking up my kit on the 9th oct. So i can take it with me wen i go for my schedule csecrion on the 28th. I went with inception life bank. The first initial cost is about $1500 (u can do imstallments) and then $200 a year.

I have been thinking about doing it to I just wonder how many years they can keep it before it goes bad?? Or does it never go bad?? I'm going to have to do more research.

In Australaia it's just over $3000 for 18 years storage with Cell Care, they have many payment plan options as they want everyone to be able to access it!! We will be storing our baby's core blood. I would never forgive myself if they had a condition that could have been treated with this technology and we didn't have it! When it comes to my family's health and money I don't care how much it costs if it means that something is there that may help them it is priceless... And no we are not wealthy, we live mainly week to week and don't have a massive cash pool behind us!!!

What they don't tell you is that they usually won't use it for the child they got it from because whatever the child has they usually have it from birth and the blood won't help it can be used on a sibling or other family member

One thing to consider is that the cells could potentially be infected with thr certain disease. There is no absolute. But it is also a great thing to do of ypu can afford it. You can also donate it. If more people donate it then it would be more widely accessible.

We did it with our first born and used ViaCord.  At the time we had the money and I didn't consider the costs expensive, I mean, what is cost when it can possibly help your child or their siblings if ever needed.  I wish we had the financial means to do it with this pregnancy, but not able to.  I at least know that the blood we have stored from our first cam possibly help our other children.

Thank you!  :) it seems like a great idea. Depending on how much it'll cost where I live.  I am 29w so I still have a little bit of time to decide. :)
