I am 5 weeks pregnant and I am experiencing cramps now and then.
It feels similar to menstrual cramps with a bit more Iintensity.  Is that normal?

I had cramps since 6 weeks. But they were nothing  like period cramps they were very mild. I am now 30 weeks still get cramps every now and then. If they are not strong cramps or bleeding  it's probably  just your uterus expanding
