driving restrictions?

I don't know the doctor said with the back pain and contractions I keep getting that I'm not to drive but it's driving me crazy because my husband doesn't have a license and I really need to go 30 minutes to Wal-Mart. Not only have I had this insane urge to buy a new digital camera for when baby gets here (old one stopped workin) i need to get more Gatorade and my dad has had horrible heartburn all weekend and tums and rolaids haven't helped so I really want to get him something stronger because he has been so miserable. He has had a tube in his stomach more than 6 months now because he was unable to swallow anything due to his treatment for throat cancer and the muscles are just starting to work enough for him to swallow fluids and I told him not so much tea and soda to drink some water milk and Gatorade but his old self is stubborn. And he has no real food in his belly just the liquid food he eats through tube which is probably why his heartburn is so bad. Would it actually hurt for me to take about an hour drive? I mean I've been driving through the back pain and contractions and I know she put the restriction because she believes I'm about to finally hit active labor but seriously it's a hassle when I'm only person in house who can legally drive.

My husband is going to have to drive if I'm unable to. But as it stands right now we are just waiting on me to hit 4cm so she can induce me. Monday I was at 3 and Friday 3.5cm. She believes I'd hit the 4cm or over this weekend and if I do that my contractions will finally get to how they should be. But I doubt it. I'll probably end up sitting here until my appt Thursday and hoping I don't dilate too far by then. Which if it's like my last I may not be able to get past 5cm on own. Ugh, I would hate to imagine going into labor at Wal-Mart or on side of road but husband is going with me so that is one good thing if anything happens he can drive because there is a medical reason. Going to stop by dairy queen and see if I can keep some ice cream down because I'm starving. Lol

I was wondering the same thing pt33.  Whisper just be careful.  I would hate for you to give birth in walmart.

Well, you and everyone else have to have food.  If you think you can make it and it's become a need and not a want, you are going to have to do what needs to be done.  Pray you can go and get back with no issue.  May be a crazy question but who us going to drive you to the hospital when it's really that time?

I'm 38+3 and expected to go into labor any time but I've been having contractions and all so long they are just becoming a normal thing and I've learned to drive through them. Honestly unless my water breaks or I have bleeding I won't even be able to tell so I'm done guessing and just want to go about everything as I normally would. I need to go shopping bad and I know doctors give us restrictions for a reason but this one just seems pointless. I've been trying to get my friend to take me all weekend but she has yet to show up, I guess it's ok for me to drive her around all the time but the one time I need that favor it's too much an inconvenience. I just really need to be able to drive and this restriction seems pointless and not sure if I should continue to follow it and try and get someone to drive for me, or if I should just ignore it and drive myself. I just looked in fridge and it's about empty.
