Lamaze?

Are these classes worth it? I tried taking birthing classes but never ended up learning anything :/ I'm due in 5 weeks and don't even know what to do! I'm a nervous wreck..

My husband and I went. It was great for bonding and celebrating. We did learn many thinks like what to expect after you have baby and when you get home. It was only $35 for us. I enjoyed it. I wouldnt say it's a must! I read books the whole time with my 1st.

I find them pointless. Nothing can prepare you for your labor all labor stories are different. Some women just slip the baby out so it would be like what's the point and some women are in labor for 12hrs or more and nothing can prepare you for the pain.but that's just me.

Do women break down during those classes, like watching the birth videos? That's my fear and I'm uncertain if I should attend those classes.

It depends. I went to one with my hubby for my first child. They basically show you breathing techniques, how to focus on other things besides labor pain. I guess basically how to mentally and physically deal with labor. They show you ways your partner can help with massage using different tools.  We watched a birthing video and watched how to change a diaper and swaddled a baby. While learning how to cope with labor was interesting, I didn't use anythign but the breathing exercise. I had Forgot how to do that and the nurse helped coach on that. Then I had an epidural so nothing I learned was needed after that. Watching  the birth video freaked me out more than I already was for weeks leading up to my child's birth. So to me, it was not worth sitting through the classes.

I thought i should of taken classes with my first pregnancy considering labor was a huge fear of mine but when it happens you ease yourself into it and I did great! And I never took the classes. As long as you try (not everyone can) but try and stay calm you should be fine!  Contractions get stronger as they go so they work their way to the strong ones but good luck :))
