echogenic bowels on ultrasound, and normal CVS.. Please HELP

Hi all

I am 33 yrs old , and i am a balane translocation 14,21 carrier.

I have already lost 3 babies due to this issue.

with this pregnancy, which happened on it own as well , everything was going alright, and we did CVS on my 11-12 weeks and the results came back normal, and my baby girl had my balance translocation but she is completely normal geneticly.

few days ago, i was 19 weeks,4 days, I had to go for my sec trimester ultrasound, and we were so excited to see our baby. Everything looks good , measurments are fine. baby is doing good, moving and everything, but the technision couldnt see the spine completely due to the baby position.everything else was great. the heart , the brain everythin. I was so happy and we made the announcment that we are having a baby girl.

Today I got a call from my ob/gyn and she said that she noticed an echogenic bowel, which is usually a soft marker for down syn, but as we did the CVS testing already, so she is not worried about that.

I had cyctic fibrosis test done already me and my husband and its negative, so she ordered the CMV blood work to rule out the infection .

i am pretty sure i do not have the infection. I have to wait till tomorrow to know for sure though .. But am very worried !

What could that be? could it be something serious?? I am very sad and just want to cry... I wanted to really enjoy this pregnancy without them picking up more problems for me !

she said that I have to do a follow up ultrasound in 2-3 weeks, jut to check the spine completely and recheck if the echogenic bowel are still there.

What do you think guys? please help me , I am so confused ! the CVS testing could not bw wrong .. Right ???? Especially that genetic counselor told me that the biopsy report says the growth was from placenta cells.

Please help

Sara

My sister recently had a similar scare. She'd never been pregnant before. She found it very hard to conceive. She was in the hospital with a bad kidney infection and heavy fevers early in her pregnancy, before she even told anyone. Everything was okay, she was released, etc. 18 weeks she got her ultrasound and it's a little boy. Great, right? But she got a phone call saying that the baby had a cyst in its brain and that this is a marker for Trisomy 18. She was told it was most likely nothing since everything else looked fine and the other "markers" we're missing. She still worried. We all prayed. She was referred to a high risk doctor and come to find out, the cyst is gone, and my nephew is okay!

I'm telling you this story because I feel like you need to hear about false positives. If you've had past problems and they did the CVS testing this time around and the results came back fine, and everything else they could see on the ultrasound was problem free, then I'm thinking it's going to be just like my sister's story.

Ultrasounds and simple  blood tests give a lot of false alarms. They use tests like the CVS and amniocentesis to rule out if they're something to worry about or not. Since your CVS came out well, that's good! I know this won't stop you from worrying but I hope it'll make you feel better.

Thanks InsaneRoman for your reply .. It did help me ease the worry and the thinking... I am still worried but my husband who is a physician as well told me that he thinks that everything will be ok and this echogenic bowel could be due to some error in the setting of the ultrasound device.. and that docs and nurses just keep searching for small signs and things on ultrasound and  blood works to protect their backs in case anything happens.
I really hope this is the case now, and I will try not to worry at least till I do my next ultrasound and hopefully everything will be ok ..
I am just more obsessed now and some of the stories I read online are really kind of scary.. and that what scared me more.
