exercise

I am 4 weeks pregnant and want to know what cautions in exercise i should have. I went walking and feel very drained and dont want anything to hurt the baby. I know it us a dumb question but it has been 12 yrs since i have been pregnant. My son is now 11 and my daughter is 15. Im happy to say i will be 30 soon :)

I am an active person and lift weights and do heavy cardio training. My trainer had or me on a program of lighter weights where I don't go out of breath of heart rate over 150bpm. Now if you normally walk and are active you should be fine. You will get exhausted quicker than normal but so long as you can still hold a conversation while being active then you will be fine. You should keep active while pregnant, it will make the pregnancy easier later!

I wondered about this too. I like to do Zumba and kickboxing (movements not actual fighting) but wasn't sure. I also worried about balance. I think I will walk until I discuss with doctor.

You can do what you were doing before you got pregnant. Just know that first trimester it is extremely common to be fatigued, so if you are really exhausted take it easy. Just make sure you aren't going anaerobic - make sure you can talk without being too short on breath. And you stay hydrated.
If something is uncomfortable, don't do it.

Take extra breaks, stay hydrated. Don't push yourself to go further if you're feeling tired.

I do Pilates/Yoga and feel excellent! I cut back in first tri because of my morning sickness but there's really no reason you can't keep doing what you were doing pre pregnancy. The only things to avoid start in your second tri and that includes heavy weight lifting (I'm told over 15 lbs - although I lift my 25 lb daughter regularly and I'm 20 weeks) and you should avoid any "crunch" style exercises (not bc they are dangerous to baby... they are dangerous to your ab muscles because of the risk of diastasis recti).

i go to a bootcamp once a week.  i have been going for months.  the trainer just modifies what i can do and there is no balance stuff for me.   I was going to start Zumba when i found out i was pregnant again and the drs said its too high impact that i shouldn't start it at this point.   So I'm just doing my bootcamp and playing baseball (only for 3 more weeks then i promised my hubby i would be done)
