My son was just born at 37w1d and they considered him full term
I had my son spot on 38 weeks . He's now 4 and very noisy and confident - absolutely fine!!
Full term is 37-42 you are not technically considered post term until after 42 weeks
Ive read 4 books and one says its 2013 and they all say 37-40
It was but he's a very chunky happy 1 1/2 year old now
Thanks everyone! And I'm so sorry jerica, that must of been really tough, I can't even imagine, I'm glad he's okay now!
My ob says 37 weeks and up
37 weeks, but take it from me keep that baby in even longer, I had my youngest son at 37 weeks he was born with a hole in his lung and was under developed they found out that from how he acted and problems he was probably really only 35 or 36 weeks. He was in the nicu a little over two weeks before he got to come home
The march of dimes website has a good article on what is full term and the difference it makes for your baby.
I recently read an article (believe it was Parenting magazine) that's says that 37 weeks is no longer going to be considered full term. The reason is because they have learned that there is still a lot of brain development going on in weeks 37 and 38. It said that weeks 37 & 38 are considered "early term" and weeks 39 and on are full term.
from 37+ weeks is full term. babies born before 37w are considered as premature
Full term is between 37-40 weeks.
