gestational diabetes

Sorry if this is a silly question but for those of you who have gestational diabetes, did you have any symptoms or did you know that you had it before you found out?
I'm on my 3rd pregnancy. My first born was 9lb 1oz and my second was 9lb 13oz so they want to give me a glucose test to find out if I have gestational diabetes with this one (I haven't had it before) and to keep an eye on its growth.
I feel fine, no different to my other pregnancies so i didn't know if there were ways to tell? Thanx :-)

I am not certain but usually food takes 2 hrs to digest and maybe mom had plenty carbs or sugary food within the first hour and possibility wore off by the 3rd hour.  But not certain.

Why do some women fail the 1 hour test but pass the 3 hour test?

They are probably checking because of the size of the previous babies.  9plus is big for a baby and usually indicate possible traits of gd.

There are no symptoms for GD. I had my one hr test and failed it last week. Then I had my 3 hr test and passed it. The nurses thought for sure I wouldn't because I couldnt keep my eyes open for it after I drank the syrup...but I managed to have normal levels all thru out the testing phase. You really just never know.
