gestational diabetes

So I was just diagnosed with gestational diabetes and I'm freaked out. I know that it is manageable and can be treated. I am just worried about any major long term effects on the baby? Does anyone know if this will adversely affect the baby?

I was diagnosed at 28 weeks with GD. My doc has had me monitor my blood 4x a day and eat healthy. I still get to eat things I want but I don't over do it. I was really upset at first but honestly it's not a big deal if you keep it under control... My blood sugars are completely normal and my baby is perfectly healthy! Good luck to you

I have it and mine is managed by diet. Its not as bad as I thought. I just had to change a few things. I test 4 times a day. As long as you follow the drs orders you'll be fine.

My doctor said having a large baby, complications with giving natural birth due to size. I am controlling it with diet and insulin. Stay positive :)
