My midwife said dont eat from 9pm the night before and then I have my first blood test at half 10 then the drink and then my other at half 12 and they monitor me through it. Im in the uk so if you're from somewhere else it might be different for each place x

Yea, it's a fasting test. Even if it's not sugar, carbohydrates turn into sugar so that's why you really can't eat anything. I had to fast for a minimum of 9hrs. A small amount of water was ok for me to drink.

It depends on the lab. The lab that I've had all my glucose tests at do not allow you to eat after midnight before the test. When you go in they ask if you've ate and if you had they make you reschedule

Katielou92 why would you not be able to eat for 14 hours? I have never heard of that. My Dr. Says it's fine to eat and drink, as long as it's not sugary, up until I drink the drink. Then I'm not allowed to eat or drink until the test is performed which is within an hour

It's routine! I'm going Wednesday for mine and I'll be 28 weeks. The time that's cause for concern is if they want you to come back for a three hour test. Don't stress and follow the instructions for most accurate result.

How far along are you?  Every pregnancy that do a glucose test unless they already know you are diabetic. I just did my glucose test today and scared to find out that I have gestational diabetes. I hope it's negative.
